Depends what you want. Koiksatu has a lot more customization if you are into that.

Well, if you enjoy stories much as I do, both are good but com3d2 has a lot and I mean A LOT of work put into it, char creation goes to Koi imo. Being able to walk around in koi is also great.

Koi dosen't have all that much content as Com does. I'm not even sure if they're still working on Koi (i hope so it's a cute game)

Both games can be played in VR but idc about that I just like creating/reading.

Koikatsu has unbeatable character creation and customisation, incredible animation and also great many personalities and voices (I mean, if you mod it a little, you can even go into rodiculous details like length of individual fingers and stuff).

Maid has less customisation, but has an actual game behind it and incredible cuteness where Koikatsu has only rather simple dating sim.

Frankly, the only honest answer I can give is get both.

(Alternatively, if you are less into gaming with your characters and more about the *cough* creating things you like and masturbate to them, I'd say get Koikatsu *cough*)

I am fine with minimal character customization such as physical appearance, but is there still plenty of outfits, hairstyles, etc to choose from in Custom Order Maid?

Maids > I own both games(sadly) But this one takes the cake, and if they import all the mods they have on the original version it will be even better and will far surpass Koikatsu on character creation.

You'll get more value out of this if they release all the content for it. The amount of H in Koikatsu vs COM3D2 isn't even a contest XD

Koikatsu has better character customization. But cm3d2/com3d2 has better plot and content.
Ex: In cm3d2 I got an event where one of my maids told my mc that she was pregnant. Except it was an April Fools joke, and she expects the mc to freak out. But to her surprise he was extremely happy and excited.
Then he suddenly noticed that she is crying.
The whole thing got me diabetes.
