Let's talk about atrocious drop rates for SS characters

So, I'm an avid player of everything gacha with about 15 years of experience in this genre at this point. And hardly ever have I met a game with drop rates as bad as in Book of Yog. Man, even Genshin’s gacha isn't as infuriating, which is an achievement on its own! And don’t even get me started on comparing it to Arknights where I get 6-star characters almost every 30-50 rolls.

According to my calculations, I have had over 2000 pulls in Book of Yog by now, and not even a single one gave me an SS character. I receive them only from guaranteed results every 500 attempts and collected crystals. How is this OK in any way? How can a normal free-2-play person build a team with any SS characters? And you literally have to include at least one to succeed in most activities (I tried replacing Endy with Luta and the result was…horrible, to say the least).

Looking at the requirement for any upgrades after the red stage, I’m completely baffled by how I can progress any further without investing a good deal of money (which I’m not going to do). Even free diamonds from promo codes don't help much because you need a ton of them for 500 pulls.

I'm free player and have 3 SS in my main team (FH, Seraph, Asura) and Solus Commander, all of SS is Mystic(?) quality, the one that was given at 400 lvl cap.
I play for 4-5 month everyday and use all promo codes from discord, there is a lot of them,
So i can't agree with you. BTW i played GI and dropped it because of gacha.

I agree the drop rates for SS are terrible. Been playing for about 1-2 months here myself and have only had one SS drop for me that was not a pity. However, I have been able to get a max rarity FH simply by using my arena and Labyrinth coins. So yea, save those coins and use them to get your SS people. It will take a few months but you will get there.

The gacha odds are abysmal, this is true. The labyrinth, arena, and guild coin drop rates give about 45-ish SS shards a week? More with advanced arena added in now.

So if gacha were the only source of SS shards, I'd be right there with you. But they're not, so I don't.

I absolutely agree that it's possible to get SS characters through coins and shards (that's how I received 2 extra copies of Endy). BUT! It's a gacha game. And in such games you're also supposed to get characters you need through pulls/rolls. This is next to impossible in the Book of Yog, which is the issue I'm talking about. It would be great if developers addressed the drop rates in the future updates to bring some balance to gacha.

P.S. It is really nice to see that my fellow free-2-play people with more hours in the game and experience did find ways to build SS-based teams. This is reassuring. Thank you for your advice too! :)

This game is very weirdly balanced compared to any other gacha, as you might have noticed the amount of free rolls you get is quite crazy to be honest, and there is an easy way to get the SS chars from coins over time, imo aslong youre actively playing you will guaranteed max out multiple ss chars by just playing,participating in events and redeeming any codes

No such thing as "balanced" in ANY gacha. Gacha = Gotcha is only foremost and firstly out there to get your money if you want to "progress" with a time gated mechanic used to trap people that can't wait or let progress just "idle". The reason why gacha works is because people have no self control and will buy their way with worthless pixels. You can spend $50K USD in this gacha and you still won't ever reach end game and get a maxed out team with 4 SS units.

within one month of starting i had ALL current ss, AND i also have all new ones,
MY ss= hiest lvls as opposed to -S and below_
i used codes,
yes i spent around 50=100 usd in this time,
I DID NOT SPEND ANY$$ before aquiering all SS, but for life card,
rates bad, yes,
i HAD ALL at red withing a month playing, and i has3 MAXD one just under maxd lvl, one a lil bit under,
meh i HAVE to disagree
FTP CAN BUILD ss's into team ez if you try with buying the shards and code for diamonds hunting

other day when i got into "hard" lvls TWICE in monster maps(map grind) not once but TWICE in a day i actually had 100 DIAMONDS DROP in game??? (area map bosses crowd)
