Pigman Journey Bug - Game Stuck

My game is stuck on the quest "Pigman Journey - Search the tap root locations for Ruth and Cecilia".

I searched all the locations and cleared them out, but this questline was not updating at all. I looked online to see what I needed to do and saw that I was supposed to find/fight Ruth at Horsetail Grotto. Problem is, I have already been there and completely cleared it out and I never came across Ruth. To be sure, I went back to this location and have been running around just hoping to find something I missed but no dice.

Unfortunately my previous saves were all overwritten at this point so I am unable to reload and try again without losing literally hours of playtime.

I really was enjoying this game and would love to continue, but I just don't have the heart to lose so much of my time. Devs, if you're reading this, please let me know if there's something that can be fixed here so I can complete the game.

A few years late here, but exactly the same. I've been running around the last 24 hours in the game trying any workarounds, and now I'm worried.
