Well then, this means it's a no for possible future crossover with Valve franchises anymore, or probably with other games too... 2020 and 2021 was the best years to play this game honestly. Thankfully it will be free to play, but I think this is the price we pay.

If you purchase the game on Steam you will keep it forever and you will get the Battle Pass or whatever for the first season will be free (+ free costumes) for those who bought. So I hope they will do final sale on the game so some people can buy

This was always the plan. Epic didn't buy Mediatonic just for fun. They bought them so they could make the game exclusive and force people to use their store. That's how they work.

So to be clear, if I buy this before its de-listed I will be able to play without the EGS client and also play with those who are playing it from EGS client? Really doing my best to avoid Epic on my computer.

They require you to have an Epic Games Store account. I am sure they will bring us to them yeah
