Why have I had to make an Epic games account to play a game I paid for on Steam?

some say it's crossplay but I guarantee you it's because the game will share the same fate as rocket league. they'll enable crossplay for the time being until they pull it from Steam and it ultimately ends up as an Epic exclusive

I never understood that explanation since crossplay was already enabled before Epic bought Fall Guys. I was already playing against people on both PC and PS with no Epic account needed, yet they're claiming that they're the ones creating crossplay when that was already a thing so are basically just lying?

I've been getting more frustrated myself by the way that nearly every other day now when I try to play Fall Guys it will download another 4-5 mb onto my computer as an "Epic Game overlay update" which feels increasingly like Epic is trying to add bloatware to my PC by adding and updating some overlay I'm never going to use. How often does Epic need to update their stupid overlay and take up a bit more of my storage? Multiple times a week feels excessive.

Except as many people have already complained about, cross parties are not actually a thing at this point in time which disappointed a lot of people who bought the game more recently just so they can cross-play with friends as I see that complaint on the forums a lot, and most people never cared about cross progression since they tend to mostly stick to one or the other and has seemed to have merely caused more problems for the kinds of people who chose the wrong account to link first so instead lost a lot of progress. Very convenient that things like Kudo's that they try to sell in stores just so happens to be one of the things that doesn't cross over and just gets deleted instead. Almost like they were counting on people making that mistake.

How the ♥♥♥♥ does having an EGS account enable crossplay? It ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ doesn´t. Crossplay ain´t nothing more than connecting to the same server. Crossplay is when you have people on console playing together with people on PC ON THE SAME SERVER, not people who own the game in two different services.

Seriously, the sheer daftness of people defending the integration is stunning.
