i have tried to link my steam with my epic account, which works but i lose all my progress/ items i already had

When i first started the game through steam after the update, it asked me to linked my account to Epic Games. All my stuff transferred

I wasnt asked to link my account after update 2 days ago. Can this be some mistake? Anyway I still play through Steam as it is much more comfortable service for me.

If you want to launch Fall Guys from EGS while having your steam progression saved then basically:
Login to EGS with your Steam credentials (You may have to create new EGS account).
After that you can simply install Fall Guys from that EGS account and you will have your progression
