people seem to think if a thing was free, it's legal. but it doesn't matter.
making profit is not the crux of a copyright dispute.
you could argue they were trying to create a replacement for fallguys, but everyone i played with owns fallguys already. we were playing the bootleg one for funsies.
If you're profiting from someone else's IP then yes... it IS illegal...
read the yellow highlighted text in that link
youi too.
read up, you knwo nothing about copyright law, lol.
You do know copyright laws vary by state and country, right? That said, it can also be claimed as IP which might differ from copyright. When it comes to creative/gaming IP, if you use someone else's and profit off of it, then yes, it's illegal. It's the basis on why so many MMO private servers either get shut down (if they charge their player-base to turn a profit) or stay up (if they explicitly ask for donations JUST to cover costs).
look up how fair use works, and applies to real life.
if they're
A. stealing assets or works, and using them in a no-transformative way
B. outright using protected content as their own
C. using copyrighted material without permission
D. making a replacement for existing protected content
the slip blox game is maybe guilt of D, and that's stretching it. Almost every obstacle course on Roblox is the same way, they just dressed it up slightly to mimic fall guys aesthetic.
literally none of it is breachign copyright law.

but no, the roblox stuff was absolutely well within rights, dude.
( edited to fix one word )
Again, these laws vary by country/state, so copyrights in the UK (or IP rights, idk) might differ. I honestly don't know where Roblox is based off of, but regardless they could actually hold up a case. If I'm being honest, I'm not sure if this could be considered stealing of IP since it's just a bootleg and not an exact carbon copy of the game, but still, we're talking about Roblox (or the people who made the bootleg, idk) going up against a company that just made millions. Mediatonic might lose, but I'm pretty sure every party involved would just consider it easier to simply drop the bootleg and avoid costly legal fees and what not.
This is by no means my field of expertise, but hey, I've followed a bit of gaming IP issues so I just thought I'd throw in my two cents.
