Italy joining the central powers
So in my Entente Campaign I was able to push AH from Lemberg and its oilfields while for German I have prevented them from gaining any major French cities with the exception of Nancy and the Belgian cities of Antwerp and Brussels. I have even begun to push the Germans out of France and Belgium while the Russians push in to East Prussia.

Yet to my confusion Italy just seemed to have just drifted towards the Central powers without any reason, the AI did not give Italy any of AH territory yet they joined them anyways, it doesn't make any sense to me, as the player are you just forced to spend a bunch of MPP on Italy in diplomacy immediately or am I just missing something?

Maybe you launched the campaign "The triple Alliance" ? In this one, Italy honors its (formal) alliance with Germany and Austria-Hungary.

In the standard campaign, you would see events unfold as historically: Italy will claim Austrian provinces and if you don't hand them out, they will join the Entente and declare war on you.
