They are not free, they are already being payed for.
I don't say they will not succeed, but at this moment, they tried to do too much at once and just released it even though they are full of bugs and errors. Almost as if they forgot to test their plugins completely. (Much like Bethesda when they released Fallout 76)
It's a huge bummer they will probably pay wall future stuff but ultimately they have no obligation to even make plugins in the first place. If we don't like it we can make our own.
Meaning: They are not free, they are just already payed for by the MV community.
Always willing to chip in a few bucks for those people when I can
Well, that is not true.
So... Are they free? Both yes and no. :p They have already been payed for.
Like if I pay you to get 100 balloons and hand them out at a party, then everyone gets free balloons, but the balloons were still payed for. :p
It is not important and I don't mean any confusion either. :p
Tier 2, 3 and 4 arent.
It means, that if your team has 6 members, you must pay from 18$ to 30$ per plugin.
Also plugins from them are obfuscated, so... RIP any compatibility.
I can recommend to boycott they work and wait for really good plugins with open and readable source code.
We'll have to wait for their alternatives from someone else - it'll probably take longer due to code obfuscation (this topic has literally started a war between plugin developers).
Welcome to the hell of incompatibility for 70$...
Edit: misunderstood this bit. Yes, you need to purchase a copy of the plugins you're using for each of your team members. That still isn't unusual with these things though, you get the same stipulation with other game creation software as well.
Yes, there are bugs, but that's why Yanfly and Archeia put together a dedicated bugfixing team who are stomping out bugs as quickly as people can report them. It's not that we didn't test anything, but there are edge cases the developers just missed. That happens in software development all the time, so I'm not sure why it's being talked about like it's some kind of new thing. There's a very robust system in place for reporting and fixing bugs, and at the moment I believe the plan is to put out updates every Sunday if there are updates to put out.
Yanfly is not disappointed by how his plugins have been taken over; he's part of the team doing all this and is very happy with the work everyone is doing. Again, bugs are not an unusual thing with software releases and they're being fixed faster than they're being reported.
They're also not "money grabbers". They're a company providing a service, and value the time that's put into the content they release. VisuStella was around long before MZ, and has put out a huge amount of free content since it was created; what people are railing against now is the end of the gravy train, and the start of the coders in the community valuing their time and effort as much as the artists do (and that's long overdue, in my opinion).
Don't worry, I'm not going to swear at you and I'm not saying that they're bad plugins. Everything here actually revolves around paid plugins. But that was known even before the MZ was released. The promise that core plugins will be free has been kept. I have a neutral position on this matter, and personally I think that the number of paid plugins will rather increase from other developers as well. And this leads me more to the question - why by default MZ has only static SV enemies, limited layers (4), .. That conclusion sounds pessimistic, but believe me, I like MZ.
