RPG Maker MZ

RPG Maker MZ

So, $80 bucks, uh?...
What do you think about the price? I personally think that I will wait till this one goes on a sale of more than 50% lol.

Call me stingy, but d@mn, $80 is a really big spending, more on times like this.

Thoughts??

The assets are pretty much compatible with MV. Would you spend $80 on an enhanced asset pack, plus an enhanced character generator?

If I recall correctly, the 80$ price tag is consistent with the price when MV was released, so in that sense, I wasn't surprised when I saw the number; it's really what I expected it to be.

That said, I'm stingy (much to the displeasure of my wife) and I don't like paying 80$ for really anything (despite how awesome it may be), so I'll probably end up waiting for a sale price.... maybe during the winter sale. Meh, I'll see what happens.
Oh, yeah. MV cost the same. Is just that I see $80, transformed it to Mexican Pesos and the resulting price was more than double the price for MV in its release.

I guess I need to wait and see how much it will cost in my currency before deciding if I should buy it or not.

It's pretty much normal for game development tools to cost this much anyway. Day 1 buy in my book.

I think the price is not too high. I kinda expected it to be a little higher. (Since now it is priced nearly the same as MV)

I did buy MV for full price (like a week before it went on sale for the first time... :steamsad:) and since then I have spend almost 10,000 hours in the software. If I look at it that way, I payed less than 1ct per hour.

Sure, $80.- is a bump of money to spend all at once, specially if you're still in school, or in between jobs or sometthing. So I understand people wait for the first sale. But I don't think it is too expensive for what it is.

Are you just copy pasting your replies? :p You said exactly the same thing in another topic. :p

You're for the tool and a commercial license for that tool and it's assets.
$80 is reasonable.

80$ is nothing for an application i will use for many hours. And dont forget that you can publish your games (commercial license, etc.)

what if you make a game that sells really well? you'll earn your money back in no time :)

:p Because of this comment, I was curious: "How many hours did you spend on MV?" Turned out to be 78. That is about $1 per hour, if you bought MV at full price too. :p

I payed full price and still payed less than 1ct per hour! :p (I am near 10k hours)

I hope you will use MZ more intensely. Because 78 hrs is really not much. If I see games made under 78 hrs and released they are either one of the two:
- Unfinished games that are or are not still in development
- Finished games that look like they are made by a child

(Ofcourse it is possible you actually have way more hours into MV, just not the steam version. If you have the version installed, downloaded from RPG Maker web, then those hours are not shown on your profile. :p I am just going to assume you only use 1 version of MV.)

I'm really looking forward to MZ at launch. Part of my reason that I didn't get too far into MV is because of the blinding rate that Yanfly released the plugins. Being someone who likes to have the information for such things (and some of the plugins were mandatory, glad many of those features are now built into the software) be in easy look-up, I would copy and paste the help files into a word document, formatted, so I had it in a binder for looking up on paper so I didn't have to close windows to look at the help files. Spent so much time on that that I never got into MV really. With MZ I think I'll be able to jump in and start messing around/making things without constant plugin manual updates.

I'm also somewhat hoping that since Yanfly retired, other plugin creators get a chance to really shine on MZ, as... well despite Yanfly's plugins being some of the best, they became the defacto standard that everyone used, being free until the retirement being a decent reason for this. However because his plugins had all I wanted at the time and more, I never looked at other plugins by other people. Not dissing Yanfly here, legendary work there, but I hope the plugin community in MZ is much more vast and diverse with what plugs are used and whom they're made by.

Edit: On a side note, kinda wish there was a bundle that was between the base and the cheaper bundle that only had the Cover Art Characters DLC and the 3d Particles Effects Pack included for a price between the base and cheaper bundle, or at least let us choose which dlcs to pre-order with the base...

$80 too much? I bought it today, with 20% off (discount if you own MV, otherise it is 10% off) and payed €56.- (I think that is a little over 60 bucks) in preorder.

Seems like an awesome deal to me. Oh and as a bonus, they threw in an extra copy of MV.

So, if you want to be the first to use MZ and you don't want to pay $80... Then buy it now, before the pre-order is over.

I'll consider it when its 75% off
