The game you create on RPG Maker MV (and, I'm willing to bet, MZ) is completely open source by default.

It's just a HTML page with a canvas, all the engine is in JavaScript, all the images and sound assets are uncompressed, and all database information, including map layouts, events and such are just .json files.

Dude if publisher who port games to consol say this is close engine then it is I thought the same as you but it is not.

I write this same to company who made new platform engine Creatry and they say

Hello,

We will take your proposal into consideration, but at the moment there are no plans to implement this feature.

Best regards,
Sanya.

So this is not to simple.

RPG Maker itself is closed-source.

The game you make with it is open source by default (if you're using MV). You can check that yourself by simply looking at your game folder.

Or, to be more fair - there do is a single binary file. The .exe that's nothing more than a HTML/JS interpreter. You could remove it and open the game via the .html file on any modern web browser too, for example.

That exe is technicly open source too, it's just the NW.js binary with modified resources (to include the icon n stuff)

You can do it, provided you can figure out how to without "reverse engineering" the engine.
To legally publish your game a on console you need a licence.
If Nintendo or someone is really interested in your game I think you could ask them to help you figure this sort of thing out. Your sort of putting the horse before the carriage here.
Publish your game on Steam and see how well it sells there first.
Your going to need the kind of success that something like Axiom Verge had to pull this off.

I think the OP put the cart before the horse. Frankly.

They are still too green to worry about getting on a console. But yes, it wouldn't be hard to port a javascript, web browser game to a console. (MV and MZ are effectively that)

I'm pretty sure there is a version of RPG maker on switch and there is also an RPG maker player on switch to enable you to play RPG maker games on the switch. I don't know about the other consoles.

If you make a game you deem is fit for a console release you CAN bring that game to consoles, it will not be easy, and Kadokawa will not be implementing any kind of one push solution for console release. However, since the games you make with MV/MZ are HTML/Javascript based. Meaning they run in a web browser. All you would have to do to bring said game to a console is create a webview container for the game that will run on console. XBOX would be your easiest target to start with. As Developing for UWP or Universal Windows Platform isn't that hard, and the XBOX ONE series of consoles are capable of running UWP apps, that is why there are cross platform applications that work on windows phone/xbox/pc that all run from the same executable. That framework will likely also be available on the xbox series x and series s consoles as well. If your game sells well there it would be possible to get a publisher, or partner with access to development tools to then port the game over to playstation, or even switch.

Aside from that path, you could try and get the Dev Kit for the console of your choice, but your mileage may vary on weather or not they are willing to license one out to you. Biggest thing is having a game first. Worry about getting it onto platforms other than PC/Mac/Mobile till after you have a viable product to sell.

A great example is Corpse Party. Originally Developed on RPG maker 98 by Team GrisGris. Since it's release it gained a massive following, and has since been remade and released several times, including on PC, PSP, and Nintendo 3DS. Including a fan rebuild of the game using RPG maker XP.

Get your game built, if it's good, people will buy it. If it's REALLY good, a LOT of people will buy it. Go from there will expanding your platform availability.
