I've done this with beast and monster squads without issue.
Make sure they're the exact same class and tier, tho.
The issue is that some troops don't increase beyond 5 in a squad, and they also don't come in groups other than 2, which brings me to this dilemma,
where you can grind endgame monster/beast troops
it takes very long because of the combining and how many differrent you can get
i would recommend not going after combining troops until
you have a city to safely store them in
but lategame it can be fun to go after troops that you have fun jewels for
Hawks can be surprisingly effective damage dealers for example
Yeah, in my mission to document a bunch of the game, I went thru save-scumming hell to get enough partial squads to make a full squad for promotion. The worst are Toxic/Vampiric Spiders and Sandworms: you need a full squad of EIGHT to promote, and you only ever find a squad of TWO from a prison. Very tedious and the final results are rarely worth the effort.
I know that from taverns, you almost always recruit full squads for:
Bison (3/3, pet trainer Bhoer, max T3)
Umbra Cliff Boars (3/3, pet trainer Bhoma, max T4)
Brown Bear (3/3, pet trainer Gael, max T4)
Cheetah (3/3, pet trainer Panther (lol), max T4)
Also from taverns, you always recruit partial squads for:
Falcon (2/5, pet trainer Najib, max T4)
Fairy (2/5, pet trainer Tahi, max T4)
I also know that if the pet trainers move from a town, they don't tend to go too far. You can find them again by searching a few towns in each direction.
sadly after combining them to 8 and upgrading them they become only 2 big spiders
but they have solid upgrade jewels and summon alot of small spiders
even if only for a very short time
i wish the summonned spiders would last longer
or the AI would only summon them under certain circumstances that imply beeing close to an enemy tho
but they do sound like solid for sieging
Agreed. The AI likes to use abilities right when a fight starts, so the summons expire by the time your army reaches the enemy.
Thur heavy armor units are the worst for this. They use their defense buff / movespeed debuff right as the fight starts, so they fall behind the rest of your army.
I wonder, if you set those units to "Follow" instead of "Attack", will they follow you when the fight starts and only use their abilities once you reach the enemy? It's worth a try.
Potentially yes, but they're even worse than the spiders. The T5 squad size is ONE. ONE!
I don't care if its stats are solid (Lvl20: 15588 Health, 573 Phys Attack, very slow siege attack, light armor, beast), it's hard to justify a squad that small. Bring Infan along (command skill: siege units movespeed +100/200/300%) to at least make sure it reaches towers quickly.
Knock on wood, but things seem to be good now.
Or were you able to properly combine them, and then upgrade?
ONE worm
thats really sad,
its takes quite the grind but ONE injury and here we go again
those only summon when actually fighting
