Community compilation of knowledge and mechanics in the game.
Please feel free to post about things you've discovered, while playing the game, in this thread.

- You can change your appearance by talking to Haberdasher in Redstone Keep.

- Drop chance of good items like Epic tier and Wisdom crystals from Heroic Spirits seems to be tied to level. The higher your level, the better the loot you get, so extensive farming before max level is a bit wasteful. - The Grand Mugwump

- You can get 2 Skill Points every 30 days in Zagros Mountains. There is a Library Northwest of Crowders Village, which is in the top left and one below/between Southcliff Village and Snowridge, which are near the bottom of the map. You will need to defeat a monster. You also get a random potion that increases a stat by 5 points.

- Heroic Souls can give Equipment, Jewels or 1-2 Wisdom Crystals when you defeat them. It is best to clear them out whenever they spawn. - Galvon

- There is a Purple Flame, Southwest of Cedarwood Village in Zagros Mountains & West Docana Desert, northeast edge of the map from Diresprings that allows you to enchant items, including mounts, for the price of 50 Jade. You can choose 1 of 3 enchantments. - Michiel & zAcEz

- You can recruit Dragons at a Portal, Northwest of Snowridge in Zagros Mountains, South of the Enchantment location. - Michiel

- You can get unique trinkets that provide skills from Tavern Maidens after romancing. Fadia: Phoenix Tome; summons a powerful Phoenix for 25s to assist you in battle,
Nura: Tome of the Darkclaw; Inflicts burn damage in a marked area,
Sumayah: Crown of Vines; 30% chance to Bind attacker for 5s,
Shukriya: Lilac Lightning Stone; 3 Chains of Lightning that hit enemies,
Jesseniya: Rogue Stone; Turns you invisible every 5s. - WTFUUN

- Winning a brawl in towns where a Tavern Maiden resides will lead to an improvement in relationship with the maiden. There's also a chance that she will try to stop you from starting a brawl. Not continuing the brawl will also improve your relationship with her. You can do this more often than giving gifts, buying drinks for everyone, or asking her personal questions. - loseaturn

- Hero NPCs will travel between two towns on a daily basis. So if you don't find a ruler/vassal in his own fief/land, chances are he's in the next town/village nearby. You can also ask your hero companions the locations of NPC listed in your intel. - loseaturn

- You can get 50 Jade from clearing heavily guarded Bandit Camps. They may also have chests which contain a small amount of Jade and refill over time. You'll know if they have Jade or not by the icon hovering over the chests. - Galvon

- When tracking down a hero you want to hire, open the map and check the settlements. You can see each character, if any, by hovering over the settlement. - Jeidi

- Burn and Bleed are powerful status effects that scale with Max HP. - Jeidi

- The Mount Merchant in Twinluna Valley has a rare chance to put a Phoenix Mount up for sale. Costing 24k Utar, it is one of the fastest mounts in the game. - Jeidi
You can also obtain this mount from Redstone Keep Merchant. - Snowman

- You can obtain a Leopard Mount with the same speed for 6.6k Utar. - Michiel

- Capture cities/villages instead of outposts. Owning these opens up their exclusive dungeons which give unique and powerful items. - Jeidi

- Keep working on your Brawling skills, as these will allow you to enter tournaments which will gives you rewards like gear and Wisdom Crystals. - Jeidi

- Keep increasing your prestige in settlements. There's a wandering NPC who will allow you to hire a powerful healing unit; White Rose Healers, that can only be found in Tribal Halls which require you to have high prestige in order to enter. Higher prestige also increases the quality of troops you will be able to hire when talking to the Village Elder. - Jeidi

- There’s a free expansion for the game that is not on the Steam store. It’s located in the mod section in the main menu and you have to activate it. It adds a ton of new quests, items, and a couple playable characters. - Malech

- Companions with 50-99 relationship can level up their command skill to level two, while those with 100 can increase it to level 3. Just click the Dialogue icon in your party menu and choose "About your command.." to level up the skill. - loseaturn

- Before meeting Ifirt Void Master, there is a tall Ifirt and a short Ifirt. Talk to them twice. They will request that you bring them some water. Give them some and they pay you with a Book of Fire (water can be obtained by talking to the farmer(?) in the same map). Complete searching for all pages of the Book of Fire, fight the boss, and choose not to release him, you can summon him in battle when you have the Book of Fire equipped. - Plant a Butterfly

- Fastest way to increase affection with a party member when gifts are hard to find is to dismiss them near a town, then ask what you can do for them. You can recruit them back after that and proceed to do their task. - zAcEz

- "The Legacy Companion Threnody has a skill at 20 Relationship that grants one Wisdom Chrystal every week.

That's the extra Skill Point item. Super valuable!

You have to unlock her in Crystal Springs the first time, I don't know if you can do it in subsequent playthroughs though, I haven't tried. Though you can take her as a starting companion in the Legacy Shop after unlocking her." - 2chuu4u

Something that I wish I knew, your hero can only learn 5 "skill trees"(fire/frost/alchemy/light/dark). Brawl/Item/book/legacy skills don't count I think. I do not know if whole trees from legacy do count for that limit.

selling/buying back items that can expire will reset the rxpire timer

taking tribal guards from your master as a vassal and
putting them into your village will make them yours
(promoting tribal guards&tribal soldiers too but not for free)

can you exceed the 2 units of T6 limit
with tribal guards btw?
(might test later)

choosing to let a city govern itself instead of conquering it after a successful Siege gives you a decent favour oost with that city, might be worth concidering when coming across a weak village before you`re ready to defend this area

Units you rescued from prison hase dramatically increased upgrade price, they are also not a full squads, so it's good idea to recruit units from city halls only. Dogs and vipers are also useless 1-2 dogs or snakes for 647+ uthar instead of full squad of infantry for 140-200 uthars. Too expensive on low lvl and too weak on high lvl.

It's also a good idea to get the various bandit factions rep to 0 by "letting them go" every time you encounter them. After several times they give up reinforcing and you can recruit them quite cheaply with choice from several fully leveled and full T4 options. Great to quickly fill your cities' garrisons.

Also, use CTRL to speed things up, this works both for walking and for fighting. You can right click on the map to set up a path to any location and then you can keep CTRL pressed to quickly move there.

Player Character can equip any equipment. This leads to a lot of versatility like a Spiritmancer using an Arcane Infused Bow with a 100% chance to add magic damage when using basic attacks and skills. Useful for kiting or when your skills are in cooldown.

Collect lots flowers, there is an npc in Fleur that exchanges them for powerful scrolls like the Flame Nova and Flame Ballad. There's also an npc that exchanges flowers for buff potions.

Winning a brawl in towns where a Tavern Maiden resides will lead to increase in relationship with the maiden. There's also a chance that she will try to stop you from starting a brawl, not continuing the brawl will also increase your relationship with her. You can do this more often than giving gift, buying drinks for everyone or asking her personal questions.

There's a chance that the Redstone Keep trader will sell Phoenix mount even on day one. Traders will update their stock weekly so check if you need to.

Learning Arcana Skills is restricted by the character's Arcana level (None, Normal, Gifted, Master). Choose wisely who will learn the skills. Arcana Trainers needs different requirements before allowing you to learn the skills. They will also ask for payments.

Fire/Ice/Light/Thunder = 100 Jades
Dark/Alchemy = Above Lvl 12 Orange Gear

In the map view, use the map marker to label important locations like resource spawn points and unlabeled dungeons/challenges/Arcana Trainers. Hovering the cursor in towns will give you its garrison information as well as Wild NPC currently inside. Useful for npc tracking or recon before a siege.

Hero npc will travel between two towns on a daily basis. So if you don't find a ruler/vassal in his own fief/land chances are he's in the next town/village nearby. You can also ask your hero companions the locations of NPC listed in your intel.

Companions with 50-99 relationship can level up their command skill to level two, while those with 100 can increase it to level 3. Just click the Dialogue icon in your party menu and choose "About your command.." to level up the skill.

A bit of advice, avoid clicking the text bubble that appears above the minimap. Clicking this will initiate a random event between your companions that may increase or decrease your relationships with them, and also in rare occasion will increase a certain stat. Sounds good right, the problem is, there's a chance that your companion will start to hate each other or hate you depending on your answer, and this will decrease your relationship with them. I've seen a lot of posts that says their companion suddenly loses trust in them without any interaction, and I'm certain that this is the cause. It is also worth noting that some heroes really hate somebody else by default, like Lotus Kabir who hates her big brother Goldie Kabir. This leads to funny random interactions between them.

For those with low-spec computers who struggles handling huge battles, there's a slider in the Game Settings that changes the number of starting troops in the battlefield from both sides. This range from 40 to 200. Any exceeding troops will become reinforcements. This is useful too for fighting huge armies since you can limit the numbers of troops the enemy can field, making harder fights manageable. Troops ratio still applies, so beware if you're heavily outnumbered.

Learning Arcana Skills requires mastery. If your main character is a Jackal or Barbarian(?), you can't learn any arcana skill because your arcana is none.
