How the heck do I use consumables?

I'm struggling with some late-game bosses, and all the guides say "use consumables." But this is impossible! There's no way to equip potions/scrolls/healing items on the inventory or character page, etc.

It would be nice if a single guide to this game existed, either in-game or out of it, but, no, I've had to guess (and I can't figure it out). How do I equip and use consumable items?

You can add consumables to your hotbar by opening the inventory and dragging the potion/scroll/etc... to the hotbar that is at the bottom of the inventory screen.
The hotbar includes all your equipped skills as well. So depending on how much skills/consumables you have you might have to remove some stuff.

You can add consumables from the "Inventory" and drag them to your hotbar as grimoire has stated. They are most helpful in this game.
