learn new skill

is there anyway to learn new skill but you don't have to start new game ?

as far as I know there are currently two ways to learn new skills:

1. the skill book merchant in redstone keep and golden bazaar, who sells skills at the cost of gold and jade. The two merchants sell different skills.
2. the book of fire quest which will give a you specific skill tree.

there are also skill merchants in the ifit realm but they all seem to be not functional. The buyable skills all tend to be weak. I do not suggest learning any of them besides some which may have utility uses such as mirage. They are better given to followers.

the book of fire quest is a missable hidden quest you have the opportunity to start in the course of the main quest. In my opinion, it is possibly the most powerful skill tree you can get in the base game, so much so you can probably replace all the skills of some classes with it. I have no idea what the game devs were thinking when they added it.

I found that some people will teach you different magic skills in exchange of resources

Will I know when I have the opportunity to start it if I pay attention? Or is there a npc I should talk to in a certain place?

to increase stats you need to go to a high level building in the south west ice lands to fight an ice dragon. When defeated, he will give you a random pill that will increase one of your stats by 5. You can repeat the building every 30 days.

the instructions are on the forum somewhere, but what you need is clear water in your inventory and to give it to the pair of tall and short ifirt brothers. They will then give you the first page of the book of fire. Once you have that, the rest is about following the questline, which you will be prompted before the main quest ends. Since the book of fire quest is optional, you can complete the main quest without touching it, although if you want your character to be the most overpowered thing ever, you should learn it.

the dragon also drops wisdom crystals which give you 1 skill point when consumed.
