Where are the Merchants?

I cant make the Island Scanner because I need to buy the blueprint from a Merchant. I am playing survival mode.

Also how do I get shells?

Anyone know what it is I am suppose to do?

Without the Island Scanner I wont be able to progress any further.

Please help.

you get shells by selling to merchant. merchant is an icon that comes up infrequently. icon is blue with $ and a ship captain on it. you see icon shot a flare.

I haven’t seen a $ icon yet. How infrequently is infrequently?

Do I need a Waybill for my Kayak before the $ icon will appear and if so how do I come by a Waybill for my Kayak?

Does the $ icon appear in Survival mode?

nupe have been playing enough that at least one should have shown up. didn't. think merchentis not implementd in PC version. discord would give an answer either

I would have thought I would have seen a merchant too, but havent.

I saw the merchant once and never again ????

I saw the merchant once, about Midday. I waved at him and he pulled up beside my raft. I jumped on his raft and saved game. When I played again he was gone and I was in the water with the shark nibbling my toes. I haven't seen the merchant again, since then.

there was a quick visit by merchant for me, but that was 1 min after starting the game, never seen him again, also, anyone here up to play together and see how that works?

I had a epiphany yesterday, so thought I would test my theory. I played the game and waited until 21:00 real time and the merchant turned up. So in conclusion the merchant turning up works on system/real time. I then quit the game, booted it up again and continued the game and the merchant appeared a 2nd time. I repeated this process one more time and the merchant appeared a 3rd time. Then I left it for a bit, quit the game, booted it up and continued but the merchant didnt appear this time. Try giving this method a go and see if it works for you.
