Is there an AI monster option or does it have to be a player? Not really interested having a DBD style game, looking for more of a co op horror with friends as we are running out of horror games.

Devs insisted on a DBD clone, refusing to add a coop gamemode, so no.

Not every game in a genre is a clone of another lmao.

The devs have indeed stated that there will unfortunately be no AI Monster due to the following reason:

Due to the huge amount of procedurally generated maps in Monstrum 2 across many different locations/map combinations, creating an AI monster would be a huge amount of work that we cannot commit to.
We’re a relatively small studio with limited resources.

Thanks for replies I appreciate it! Sad its not what I'm looking for. Might try the first by myself some time since I heard positive reactions to that one.

The first game has a mod that allows you to play local co-op, the Monstrum Extended Settings mod.
There is currently a mod in the works that allows online multiplayer, however that one is not finished yet.

nothing is really available yet but you can check the modding channel on the Junkfish discord server
