Blair Witch

View Stats:
The most unoptimized game I have played in years
GTX 1080
I7-8700K
16GB RAM

I get 20-35 FPS max on every setting set to high besides the resolution scale because I fear that my computer will go up in flames if I do.
Even setting every setting to low only barely gives 60 FPS, which should be the minimum standart nowadays, and it dips every couple of seconds.

This game also came out on consoles right? How do those poor players play it? As a slideshow?

True. I am somehow confident that they didn't tested it before release. I couldn't even pass the intro cutscene because of endless loading screen. The devs said the most stupid solution for it - updating some windows entartainment packxDD I had to get saves from the beginning to bypass this bug. Also achievements didnt pop up. I dont know some day ago I've seen a 5mb update, so I am downloading once again to see if they repaired something. I have posted a negative review for a reason. I highlighted many good points of gameplay. But we don't expect a game that freezes after launch (black screen), unresponsive after intro scene etc. or as you say, sucks in optimization.

Must not play many games if this is the most unoptimised you have played in years.
Though it has run flawlessly on my potato.

I am sure it does.

The game runs terribly, a huge middle finger to the buyers. No need to defend it because you are clearly a fan.

No, just defending it because I know how to use a PC and don't blame poor system setup on games.

Hah, sure alright.

Hah, sure alright.
99% of times when games are "broken" they aren't, it's the end users computer is broken.
I've got 200 odd games linked to my Steam profile and out of them, pretty much every single one runs fine as well as all the other stuff on here. Of course you do get broken games, they do happen.
But when you get a game that runs perfect for the majority of people, but not yourself, it's not the game it's you.
Boohoo you spent how many every thousand dollars on your PC, learn how use it. Then things will actually work as intended.

I guess this is one of those 1% of the times then.

Are you joking or really that clueless? There are many articles that mentions how the game is a broken mess, user complaints and so on, so no, it doesn't run perfectly on any PC. Sure if you lower the setting to the minimum it could run "perfectly" even on your potato of a PC, it doesn't make it "perfect" in the real world sadly.

I have been spending thousands of dollars on PCs, setting them up both hardware and software-wise and running them flawlessly since 2001, I don't take fanboys (or kids in this case) with PC Master Race profile pics telling me how to use my PC properly, seriously.

"Boohoo" someone insulted a game you like, must protect the crappy port with all your power. Get a life.

Just because a lot of people don't know what they are doing, doesn't make the game broken.
There are a lot of flat earthers, do you believe the earth is flat?
No I haven't lowered setting heaps, just running the appropriate ones.

There we go, found it the "I spent lots of money it can't be me, I can't have spent lots of money and then get it all wrong".
Money doesn't by knowledge. Doesn't matter how much you spend if you don't know what you are doing.

Yeah, because every single user and news site is wrong except you, makes sense. You are a prime example of delusional fanboy.

I mentioned money because YOU mentioned how I "spent thousands of dollars" on my PC. Just gave you your confirmation.

It would be ok on my 1060gtx on high if i could turn off vsync, sadly if i do this the game gives me screen tearing from hell. I think soon it is time for a new graphic card anyway, just wait untill the next console generation is released.

Weird, I played the game all the way through 5-6 times and never had frame issues. I have a 10700k and 2070 super with 32gb. Never saw a dip below 100 tbh.
Sotomar0 Sep 6, 2020 @ 12:53pm
Well with that hardware it's no wonder that it runs like schmitz cat with your 100 f p s. But for everyone whose computer is no longer up to date ( but nevertheless in the end powerful enough ), they want a few more frames for their eyes.

Totally agree: I have 339 games on my PC and this is one of the two games that I need to run on 1080p to get constant 60 fps, my ryg:

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x @3.6Ghz.
GPU: Gigabyte OC RTX 2080.
RAM: 16Gb DDR4 Corsair Vengeance RGB @3,000 Mhz.
MOBO: MSI B450 Tomahawk.
SSD: Crucial MX500 1 TB.
HD1: Toshiba X300 10 Tb 7,200 RPM.
HD2: Toshiba X300 8 Tb 7,200 RPM.
HD3: Toshiba X300 8 Tb 7,200 RPM.
HD4: Toshiba X300 8 Tb 7,200 RPM.
PSU: Seasonic Focus Plus 850w Gold.
Case: Aerocool 500 RGB.

I can run all my other games on 1440p or 4K resolution without problems, just this one and AC Oddysey (well, but this one has a very good graphics and open world) are needed to be downgraded until 1080p, and even on 1080p it has some jumps to 50-55 fps, that sucks!
RaykuGaming Sep 20, 2020 @ 3:46pm
I got this from humble and decided to give it a try cuz looked cool but oh man either i have potato graphics with stable performance or i apply resolution scaling and drop to choppy 40fps lol

Im running on an i9 9900k and rtx 2080 ti so i can confirm the game's optimization is not the best and it sure isnt playable without the resolution scaling, too blurry and non detailed
mckracken Oct 16, 2020 @ 11:03am
i got the fastest 2080 and can do 60fps with medium to high settings.
there is barely any difference in quality settings....

people need to step away from playing on ultra 4k....and yes this game is really slow....but the foliage / trees is impressive too...
