It is not a hide and seek game. I call them kids horror game. No bull like this here.
You have a dog and it's a very cool mechanic. The game does not always makes sense, it's very strange and it want to make you confused ant lost. Not for everyone I would say. The experience is kind of short with around 5 hours but I would not want to be in this horror world more than that to be honest.
The performance is ordinary, if you have an up to date computer you'll be fine, if it's a budget gaming computer or kind of old a little, put the game at 30fps. It will be even more cinematic huh!...
Or if you have Xbox game pass PC, it's free there.
This game need more love. They are working on it, I'd wait 6 months.
The game is very much a walking simulator with puzzles along the way. There isn't much in terms of enemies that can actually hurt you unless you are really bad at pointing a flashlight. This game doesn't turn to a lot of jump scares, they do happen from time to time and the build up that leads to them makes them feel like good jump scares instead of the cheap jump scare with loud noise every 5 minutes a lot of horror games use, this games biggest strength is your own feeling of dread that it does it's best to tap into.
The environmental sound and atmosphere in my own personal opinion is absolutely perfect, they captured the feeling of being lost in the woods perfectly and while it does use a looping map system which a lot of people have complained about it's way better and lore friendly to use a looping map system instead of a boring invisible wall, one of the main plot points of The Blair Witch Project was going in circles and ending up in the same place even though an entire day was spent walking south which this game does a nice job of showcasing that with this mechanic. I would recommend only getting this game though if you are already a fan of the Blair Witch franchise as a whole and not just a general horror game fan.
The puzzles in my opinion are really good, they are centered around a video tape mechanic in the game that requires you to change what is happening in reality by pausing tapes you find along the way at the right point in the tapes recording. There's also a few find missing pieces of this machine and reassemble it style puzzles. Most of the puzzles are pretty easy depending on how quick you are at figuring things out. I had to look up the solution for one of the puzzles and after I looked it up I was disappointed in myself that I had spent 45 minutes not figuring out what should have been a common sense solution. A lot of the puzzles in this game are cases of the simplest solution being the correct solution.
Doesn't mean it actually had anything to do with the novel.
