Is this game worth buying?
Simple question. I watched a few review from the big websites like IGN, but they all game the same bullst about "Outlast meets SH" and how scary it is. I personally think that Outlast is boring and silent hill was only good until the Room. And even they said that the game is full of bugs.

Its true, the game is fairly cheap on the start, but I think I have enough games I don't wanna play.

Is it like Hellblade: Senua Sacrifice (I love that game)? Is it like Plague tale: Innocense (I like it but not as much as Senua)? Or is it just another P.T. inspired Outlast where 1 hour of a game consists of you hiding for like 20 minutes and the rest 40 minutes of crawling? Does the game have good puzzles? Does it have good combat? What does this game have anyway?

I don't want this typical "good for its price" or "wait for discount" answer, just tell me, is the game actually fun to play?

It's a mature psychological horror game with one extremely confusing mechanic for "puzzles" but if you get it or when you get it (some people needed a lot of patience or needed help from others to get it), you'll enjoy the immersion and atmosphere here.

It is not a hide and seek game. I call them kids horror game. No bull like this here.
You have a dog and it's a very cool mechanic. The game does not always makes sense, it's very strange and it want to make you confused ant lost. Not for everyone I would say. The experience is kind of short with around 5 hours but I would not want to be in this horror world more than that to be honest.

The performance is ordinary, if you have an up to date computer you'll be fine, if it's a budget gaming computer or kind of old a little, put the game at 30fps. It will be even more cinematic huh!...

Or if you have Xbox game pass PC, it's free there.

This game need more love. They are working on it, I'd wait 6 months.

Have you watched the movies? If you did watch them did you enjoy them? This game plays like Outlast in many ways but it's very much a get lost in the woods like the Blair Witch movies style of game. It takes a lore that was established by the first movie The Blair Witch Project which was set in 1994, the game takes place in 1996 with the first disappearings setting up the backdrop.

The game is very much a walking simulator with puzzles along the way. There isn't much in terms of enemies that can actually hurt you unless you are really bad at pointing a flashlight. This game doesn't turn to a lot of jump scares, they do happen from time to time and the build up that leads to them makes them feel like good jump scares instead of the cheap jump scare with loud noise every 5 minutes a lot of horror games use, this games biggest strength is your own feeling of dread that it does it's best to tap into.

The environmental sound and atmosphere in my own personal opinion is absolutely perfect, they captured the feeling of being lost in the woods perfectly and while it does use a looping map system which a lot of people have complained about it's way better and lore friendly to use a looping map system instead of a boring invisible wall, one of the main plot points of The Blair Witch Project was going in circles and ending up in the same place even though an entire day was spent walking south which this game does a nice job of showcasing that with this mechanic. I would recommend only getting this game though if you are already a fan of the Blair Witch franchise as a whole and not just a general horror game fan.

The puzzles in my opinion are really good, they are centered around a video tape mechanic in the game that requires you to change what is happening in reality by pausing tapes you find along the way at the right point in the tapes recording. There's also a few find missing pieces of this machine and reassemble it style puzzles. Most of the puzzles are pretty easy depending on how quick you are at figuring things out. I had to look up the solution for one of the puzzles and after I looked it up I was disappointed in myself that I had spent 45 minutes not figuring out what should have been a common sense solution. A lot of the puzzles in this game are cases of the simplest solution being the correct solution.

I sure have, and I'll tell you right now that, aside from being set in a big ol forest, this game has nothing to do with the Blair Witch.

It's inspired by the cinematic lore. It's the first sentence in the description of the game.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West was "inspired" by Journey to the West.
Doesn't mean it actually had anything to do with the novel.

Its got heavy Alan Wake vibes. I had no expectations going in and I really really enjoyed it. I was completely new to the blair witch universe and it got me hooked into its lore. This game is mostly a interactive narrative so unless you care a lot about story you may not like it.
I dont know if its worth buying because every time I click on "New Game" I just get a black screen.
