Ending Discussion (SPOILERS)
So this game is a total mind ♥♥♥♥. Even after beating it I'm still not 100% sure what happened.

So, some talking points;

  • This game borrows mythology from Blair Witch 2016 heavily, more so that the first movie, and if you haven't seen it you may not even get the gist of whats going on in the game. The witch has time powers basically. She can speed up time, make time relative towards certain people while others experience it faster/slower, cause it to be perpetually night time... ect. She can also warp the forest in order to make you wonder in circles and also can make things appear or not appear. Also at the end of BW 2016 they are chased by a monster that many presume to be the witch, but its not. The monster has a similar look to the forest creatures that attack you and they seem to have a similar back story (from the paper you read in the bunker), IE past victim.
  • Ellis is shown to have been the one to commit the murders seen in the game (Possibly).... yet Carver was the one we see with them, so what exactly does that mean? Also in the tape that shows the sheriff getting killed: The sheriff does talk to "Carver". Do others see Carver as Ellis perhaps?
  • That brings us to is Carver a alternate version or future Ellis? Carver compares himself to Ellis several times in game, also when you first encounter him Bullet is just playing with him instead of barking or being in anyway hostile which possibly backs them being the same person. The name Carver could just be due to the fact he likes to carve people up... lol
  • Carver claims that Ellis killed Bullet, Contrarily we see Bullet in every ending and the after ending text says that Bullet was spotted back outside of the woods near houses. But still, if Ellis did indeed commit the other murders in game then this is something to think about, especially since Carver doesn't lie to Ellis during the game from what I can remember.
  • There are Pysch reports left through out the game that I presume talks about Ellis himself, and the radio interview dude (while in the truck) talks about Mental asylums and how "Even You" could spend your time in one. This stuff paired with the Army flashbacks give off a very heavy "Jacobs Ladder" vibe. Nearly all events that take place in that movie are hallucinations of a dying man and none of it happens. Could Ellis be in a mental asylum and none of this game is actually happening?
  • Picking up the battery at the end of the game and using it in a "New Game" is most likely referencing the time loop mechanic from BW 2016. Could Ellis and Bullet be stuck in a perpetual time loop?

I may be forgetting some points. Overall the game, and Blair witch mythology in general, fascinates me. Also can't help but feel bad for the characters in the game.

I think the achievement "break the cycle" is a reference to the Witch's time loop, because Ellis can learn from his mistakes and redeem himself (in the 2nd playthrough).

I only found a few of the psych reports so I'd love to see all of them. It seems something happened that screwed him up as a kid? Did he enter with another kid and leave alone? WHAT HAPPENED?!

I think Bullet does die if you chose to drop him when you are stuck in that ravine loop. But I wouldn't be surprised if you actually did shoot him but the witch made you think you didn't.

I feel very bad for Ellis in this game. In my opinion the fact that he's screwed over in both endings totally sucks. But this IS a horror game...

There are many possibilities for the Bullet situation and I believe he survives in all 4 endings as he is in the cutscene and the after cutscene text says he lives. But I wonder if Ellis did actually kill him (and getting rid of Carver undoes it because of time mechanics and all) or if Bullet just wonders away until the end of the game. If you press the call button after Ellis passes out he doesnt even bother calling for Bullet which kind of leads me to believe he just wondered off (or he'd come if called).
