greater soul leech. . .
in the practitioner skill trees, i see soul leech, which says "20% to crit and restore 1 spell point"
I took the skill and now under all my spells, i see an additional effect "20% to crit"

but then, i took greater soul leech and it says "an additional 10% chance to crit"

but then, when i look at my spells, they all still say "20% to crit"

is this just a display error or is greater soul leech bugged where it doesn't actually do anything and is just a wasted point?

when i took sword crit on my fighter and it said "20% chance to crit" and then i took the improved crit skill, it changed to "40% chance to crit", so this is why i'm confused here.

I believe I saw a similar question before, and the conclusion back then was that it was a display error.

To be sure maybe chilkoot can answer, he usually remembers those things far better.

I did actually run some testing on this with barrage, and it's just a confusing display/tooltip error. The skill works as advertised.

it does seem to work as advertise, because i'm getting chains going pretty often. I just wanted to make sure I didn't gimp myself with a wasted point spent on a broken skill.

I was confused about the pirate skilll as well, it says my rouge will "speak up" near a chest, but apparently, its just a subtle golden sparkle that i barely noticed.which probbly explains why the chests look all shiny and important now even though they still hold minor loot like 16 coins or something

Yep - you've got it. It's a sparkle effect around the edge of the screen when you're near a lootable chest. Sometimes handy, sometimes a bit of a red herring...

yeah, i'm exploring the sentry tower now and i keep getting the sparkle of a chest nearby, and then i found the chest on the upper floors. so it detects them above and below you, which can be confusing
