And leverage your darn VR experience and give us something that plays on both pancakes and HMD's!

I'm hoping for two things: in a year or so, an "anniversary" edition based on the DC, but with some small improvements that could go a long way in smoothing out the rough edges, and, indeed, in a few years more, a BT5 with the same structure and novel playing style as BT 4, only even better and keeping with an eye to the proposals and suggestions to remedy some of the minor drawbacks this one still had.

I think toxic fans probably buried any sequel for the foreseeable future. Which makes me really sad. :(

Well, maybe. But I do note that things are improving. The toxic 'fans' have long since spouted all their venom, and if you look at the recent ratings on steam and the stars given by gamemagazines, the DC comes out pretty good. So maybe in the long run, it will turn out fairly well afterall, financially. Maybe enough to make a sequal.

+100. Would love to see Bard's Tale 5! This was my favorite series of all time. Love Wasteland as well. Here's hoping that the team starts work on BT5 once Wasteland 3 is launched! :)

Gotta believe BT5 is already in dev. since Wasteland is incoming and as part of MSS they need to keep content coming for their 'service'

More than BT5, I'd like future RPG that borrow and develop some blueprints design of BT5. Alas I don't believe much.

I think particularly of:
- The controls like first person shooter and very natural world interaction.
- That outdoor and towns can be more intricate dungeon like than wide open area.
- The caches design.
- The use of grappling hooks but with more sophisticated hint design.
- Option of party of companions, no need of any main character.
- The songs idea but yeah songs v2.0 that is they need some new ideas.
- Perhaps extend the combat system, but I'm not sure it's the best blueprint base for that type of combats, at least the idea of 4 columns, perhaps even 5, and limited ranges and movements.
- The faeries puzzles, ok joking, there's already too many, but despite that, they always trigger my smiles.

I'd love to see a second take on the ARPG Bard's Tale from 2004 with Carey Elwes returning as The Bard. Unfortunately, Tony Jay passed shortly after release, so the snarky repartee wouldn't be quite the same, but I'm sure the director could find a suitable replacement.

Still one of my all-time favourite games and would love to see it reborn with modern ARPG progression and mechanics, etc.

Very pleasantly surprised by Bards Tale IV. Great graphics and game play although I had to switch to easy mode. It is a casual play game with the best soundtrack since Fallout 4. Played it twice it was so good. I would have paid more had I known it was that good. And, yes, if there's a Bard's Tale V, I will be buying it!

With a bit of training/thoughtful tactics, most is doable in normal mode. Though, granted, I had to go to easy mode in Haernhold against the King and Redcap as well. ;-)

But now for my third playthrough, it was getting a bit too easy, so I set it on hard. Don't know what it'll give in Haernhold yet, though.

Anyway, glad you liked it!

The game wasn't an economic success, so there's no immediate plans for a BT5 as far as we heard. But since they were bought by MS now, they got deeper pockets, so maybe...

I'm still faintly hoping on a "special edition" or "final cut" version for the new consoles, but even that hope is quite dim by now.

That said, the game is gradually getting better and better reviews and ratings, so... you never know.

Good to see your still here SVDP. I got my grandson hooked on Bards Tail now. Too bad they dont just open the gates and add some outdoor content. Mayby another town and somemore quests there.

Don't know how old he is, but he might have some trouble(s) with the puzzles, depending on his age. But he has the song "Struggler's lament" now, so I guess it'll be fine on that front. ;-)

I hope they can use the old mp system , starting battle with 0 mp is just too weird. Devil whiskey in this sense is more like BT3.5

As far as we know, nothing is in the works, even though we hoped for an updated edition for the new consoles at one point.

As an aside: I just had a crash (directly to PC)! I think it's the first in the last 100+ hours!

Not sure what caused it. Was fighting some skeletons, weak ones, not too many. Only thing weird about it was right before the combat, they were almost all hanging in the tree, like a skeleton-Christmas-tree. Found it so funny that I decided to take a picture before I started the fight:

By all accounts, pretty much the entire creative and development group is concentrated on "Project Cobalt" right now: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/VgbBZb
