Dwarven Strongbox Keys?

I came across two of these boxes in the Red Vault but haven't come across any keys. Internet states that the keys come later in the end-game sequence or dungeon but that doesn't make much sense. Seem to have good items from what I saw on reddit. I don't know if this is a bug or not but I've scoured through the game and I'm only missing getting back in the Dwarven Ruins, opening the Rune Door, and one stone block puzzle just near the Red Vault entrance. Oh, and that guy on perpetual fire in Skara Brae Below.

I'm going to guess that some of these keys are in the Dwarven Ruins?

So I've found 14 in my play, one Is a sword given by the travel happy produce seller and by it's description is not one of the twelve dwarven weapons it just looks like them and I had one of the 12 in duplicate(I think this is a bug). After Haernhold I had 7 . Two more from the red vault. One in the sewers beneath Skara Brae and 4 more in the maidens barrow.

Thanks Amokay, I cleared Haernhold, but I only have 6. What I am I missing. I have 6 included the one of the farmer from the secret room? There are no more rooms I think?

I've found 7 now, in total. 2 in the Red Vault, and 5 in Haernhold. Where is FK's and where is the one in Skara Brae?

But thanks!! I got that taken care of. I think i still also only found 5 or 6 in Haernhold. I'm still hoping for the one in Skara Brae, and wondering if I missed one in Haern.

The question is, if the drops in Haernhold are random and if the weapons are unique/single. I found 6 including the Peeler, but Amokay said they are seven

I don't think the actual high-level dwarven weapons are random droploot, ever. You get some of the generals, some of the dwarven chests - and some chests are in the red vault, and some in the cave for the yadis end-fight. That's about it, I think. The most one could get, thus, is about 7-8? I don't think it's possible to get 14 rainbow-colored dwarven-weapons, as some have claimed.

Just finished today. I located 13 rainbow weapons. Counting FK's as 'not a dwarven weapon', the 12 dwarf weapons were:
5 in Haernhold The Black Thirst, The Bitter Tear, The Certain Judgement, The Steadfast Mountain, The Vital Spark
2 in Red Vault The Last Branch, The North Wind
1 in Skara Brae SewersThe Grim Command
4 in Barrow of the Maiden The Poison Kiss, The Righteous Fury, The Stoic Heart, The Undying Grudge

(It did not appear to me that the Dwarven Strongbox Key was consumed on use.)

Wow! that's pretty amazing. In fact, I thought there weren't really 12 dwarven weapons in there, as was said. (It was said it was "in the lore", but I can't remember: what lore was that, exactly?)

I always thought there were 8, of which I found 7 (made the mistake of passing the hungering blade before opening the chest in the red vault). And I counted FK as one as well, though you may be right, and it shouldn't be reckoned as a classic dwarven weapon.

I missed quite a few, then.
