Revenged provides the satisfaction of serving justice, even at the cost of Henry's own life. It was also to be expected as a natural continuation to The Betrayed.
On the other hand, with Valiant Hero, no foreshadowing of Charles's death was provided in the previous chapters. It also hits the heart harder, due to the fact Henry is the embodiment of failure.
In conclusion, Charles is a gud boi.
Revenged isn't as sad, since yeah, Henry DOES die, but you get the satisfaction of taking down his worst enemy in the entire series, even if it was at the cost of his own life.
its not that the revenged is not sad "there both VERY messed up endings" its just that...henry dying would arguibly be worse than charles
BUUUT the context matters
charles dies a literal hero as he saves henry also as pointed out above the no warning or hint prior makes the "shock" value of charles death even worse
but the revenged...i would say its karma
now i am biassed as i dislike all the RPE endings "yes even TK" as i think henry not only joining but BECOMING the toppat clan is...wrong
the toppats are pretty much the main antagonists of the series even as far back as BTB as winston davis "or whatever his name is" is a toppat and even STD as the diamond was gonna be stolen by the toppats but henry got to it first
so you could argue that the toppats have been the main enemy since the very start of it all and henry joining them especially in the context just does not sit well with me
i think if you want henry to be "evil" then PBT provides the much more thematic henry aproach
so think about it henry not only betrays the government but also forcefully takes control of the toppat clan through blackmail "by not arresting copperbottom" and copperbottom is not too happy about that "as seen by his initial hostility to henry in TK and his willingness to betray henry is TCW and TB"
henry betraying and then getting betrayed was just karma in that regard and then on top of that he ruthlessly kills every single toppat "including probably our beloved dave panpa who is locked up in that cell off screen presumably" all for what? revenge?
so henry dying in that timeline is not as sad cause yes henry dies but...its karma in a way
if henry died by like sacrifing himself to save ellie at the end of say TT then yeah it would be much more upseting and probably be worse than VH but given the context in place i would say VH
or to summarize henry dying would under normal circumstances be worse but given the context in place its not as sad
did i stutter?
'nuff said.
always when i watch or do valiant hero i just want to cry ;-;
CHARLES!!!!!!!!!! (RIP CHARLES
special BROvert oberation TRiple Threat Paradonned pals= SBO TT PP
(maybe i bad write first ending)?
?
And RE: "Evil" Henry: Honestly, I feel like "Relentless Bounty Hunter" + "Ghost Inmate", "Free Man", feels more "evil". It basically has him as a violent, selfish thug; and while he's restricting himself to the Toppats, it's clear he's willing to kill everyone he meets if it means getting back to Earth with his freedom.
EDIT: RE: Actual topic: Honestly, yeah. "Revenged" feels like karma coming around and biting everyone in the @$$. Henry betrays the Government in ItA, Reginald betrays Henry in Fleeing the Complex, Henry betrays the Toppats and Reggie in CtM. At least it all ends with all the belligerents dead.
"Valiant Hero" hits harder because Henry and Charlie have done nothing but be absolute bros to each other and fight to bring down the Toppats. You don't see Charlie's death coming, which is why "VH" hits harder.
