Speed for Jumps
I must be doing something wrong, no matter what I cannot get enough speed to clear the jumps correctly, so often land as the next jump crests its hill... which then kills all my momentum, so within a lap or so, im already dead at the back of the pack.

How do you get more speed or clear jumps with effect?

Gain more momentum coming out of the corner and try not to case jumps in the rhythm. Just keep practicing.

Are you riding the 250? Try to get the 450 as soon as you can, and update it fully. Stock bike 250 can be a bit difficult in the beginning, it's not a good way to practice in my opinion. But to get the momentum going in both classes you need to learn the tracks. If you know what's coming after the next corner you will know what it takes to clear the section. Hit the jumps right and avoid casing even if it goes slow. The key is simply to learn the track.

its all about timing..not every jump you hit full throttle..some jumps you gotta roll single then into double or other way around. some you give it throttle, some you just bump it.
If you dont know anything about jumping, might wanna learn a little..itll help you understand.

Yes you have to practice and practice and practice. You have to know the sequences of bumps by heart.

As YellowS2K discovered, holding 1 stick back will give you preload and 2 sticks will give you double preload (and with it, height) but will dramatically slow your speed.

Cheers for the replies, im still so far off the pace its getting depressing. Im clocking about 4-5 seconds at best on a clean lap slower than the best AI pace... probably 3 seconds to the worst AI pace.

I cant get the whoops to work, nothing seems to get going for me there, sticks, no sticks, one stick... I see people on Youtube hammer them at 40+ MPH, im lucky if I can get 30MPH tops!

Also im running on Semi Auto gears, which I have to do at the minute as im struggling with everything else, let alone trying to gear up and down. But do you think thats really holding me back?

Ive got the blue lines on at the minute to try and learn the jumps, thats helping but just one missed spot and im in all sorts of trouble. I want to love this game as I really enjoyed MXGP, but its so much harder to break into as a new player to the series.

If you press the windows button + g with Windows 10 you can press the record button and record a lap or two. Then go to www.streamable.com and upload your clip for free with no log-ins. Paste the link here and we can help you get going.

I would suggest you race with manual gears, and disable flow.

Seat bounce to get over jumps - pull down on the right stick when at the base of a jump.
akai_fr Feb 21, 2020 @ 12:13pm
No @559 not down the right stick on each base of jump... you loose speed and jumper higher. Sometimes you need that for don't miss the good jump sequences. But sometimes it's better to don't waste time in a long and high jump.
