I thought about this too, so i lowered the settings from ultra to medium, and the game still closes to desktop without any error code. I checked the Event Viewer and nothing pops up, atleast nothing linked to the game itself.
Manage 3D settings->preferred graphics processor: pick nvidia.
And to make sure also go to program settings tab in the same menu, Select or Add the nba 2k20 exe file, and do the preferred GPU option again.
This is what happened to me on my gaming laptop. Somehow nba 2k kept using the onboard graphic chips instead of the nvidia gpu. Even running the game through nvidia experience didn't help until I set the program settings to use nvidia manually in the nvidia panel.
Hopefully you are encountering the same problem with me, you'll know the changes works if the next time you load the game, and go to video settings the game will tell you a new/different gpu is detected.
Also.. turn v-sync on in the game... otherwise a lot of things will go wrong. 60Hz
close the game!
2 step : next u go to the nvidia 3d settings!! choise nba2k21 u must only change 2 settings
1. Mode for Low Latency u make sure it is ultra
2.Vertical Synchro make sure it to on!!!!!!
end
