NBA 2k20: Disk Write Error and Game Wont Launch
Hi Im having an issue everytime I instaling the game it will give me disk write error, below is the information in the logs:

Failed to write chunk in file "0G", 1048576 bytes at offset 1683343076 (File Not Found)
Failed updating depot 1089351 while writing chunk, offset 1683343076 (File Not Found) (Disk write failure) "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\downloading\1089350\0G"

when i resume it only work for few GB and the disk write error shown up again. after few time trying resume, my download finish/ However the game wont launch and it will only show black screen.

Fix steps ive done:
- Change download region
- Clear cache download
- Run Steam as administrator
- Allow steam in AV and Firewall
- Turn off AV while downloading
- Re-install Steam
- Repair Folder
- Verify File Integrity
- Uncheck Read-only in compatibily

THIS DISK WRITE ERROR ONLY HAPPEN WHEN INSTALLING NBA 2K20. I've tried installing other 2 games (watchdogs 2 and Yakuza 2) there's no disk write error and the game load perfectly.

Your help would be appreciated

Reposting with a small edit for so it complies with Steam rules.

This should work if you have the issue with your games installed on another drive that you added back to steam game folders after a clean windows 10 installation (I am not sure this would work if you just upgraded your previous windows installation without whiping everything).

Basicaly the issue comes from the fact that your old authorizations are still applied to the other drive, if you check the folders ownership, you'll see that the owner have a weird name. All you have to do is to change the ownership of your folders to something know by windows 10 (ex: Users) and edit this new User permissions the have full control.

PS : if you find blank files in my steam common files where the games are meant to be, deleted them, try looking there

2. Delete the 0KB File

This solution is provided by a Reddit user and many users rate it useful. In short, he just solved this issue by going into Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common and simply deleting a file titled "Fallout" that was 0KB in size. When he re-launched the game, Fallout 4 loaded up perfectly. This solution might also be useful when updating similar games. See the original post here.
3. Remove Write Protection

When a disk is write-protected, you're unable to modify the formatting and writing. This is another possible reason for the Steam disk write error. Please make sure the directory of Steam is NOT read-only. Then right click your Steam launch icon and click Run as administrator.

But if the disk is already written protected, you can simply clear write protection and remove the error using command.

Take Windows 10 for instance.

Run Command Prompt as an Administrator. Then type these commands one by one and press the Enter key after each:

diskpart
list disk
select disk # (# is the number of the hard drive with which you're getting the disk error)
attributes disk clear readonly

remove disk read only attributes

You may now close Command Prompt, repeat the downloading/upgrading process and check if the Steam disk write error Windows 10 disappeared.

4. Delete Corrupted Files in Log

Go to Steam/logs/content_log and open it. Scroll to the bottom of the log file, and look for a "failed to write" error, which will list the file name & path of the issue. Please follow the path to delete the corrupted file, and then repeat the downloading/upgrading.
5. Check Hard Drive for Errors

All storage drives/devices can be affected by file corruption, especially if it has run for years or running under a heavy load. You'll want to work with a tech support specialist to investigate possible issues with your Steam hard drive.

For Windows: My PC -> Right-click on the drive for Steam -> Properties -> Tools -> Error checking

MiniTool Partition Wizard Free may help you in this

Having the same exact issue with 2k20 only. Were you able to resolve? Please let me know if either fix worked for you. this is driving me crazy! thanks

I deleted the "0G" file from the downloading folder and it finally downloaded, and was fully playable... except all of the player images and bodies were missing. it was like playing with just the circles and the ball. It appears that the file "0G" is about 17GB of player graphics and images.

At this point, I am not sure what the work around is, as it appears that file is the problem.

Maybe this is the time to verify files and Steam will recognise the missing folder contents?
