Game does not launch (HELP)

When I try to launch the game it says "preparing to launch NBA2K2O" for a sec and then nothing happens. I tried to restart my computer and Re-Install the game but it still does not work. There is no process happening in the taskbar either. I restored my computer 2 days ago so I don´t think thats the problem.

Any help appreciated.

I got a NVIDIA GTX 970 + i7-6700 and my game doesn´t start, after hours i didn´t find any fix for this issue that worked

I have tried 1000 times to start the game but it doesnt work.;(
Can anybody help me ? I have also installed the previous version 431.36 of the nvidia driver but it doenst also work. I am really bored...

in case ur reinstalling the game again, make sure that after u uninstall it, that you clean up ur registry 1st, and then install it again. beside that it may happen that another running process lead to that issue, so before you start the game make sure you turn off every app which is running in the background

I can not really understand how can an official game has such kind of problems..

ain´t nothn new, u can search for the same topic releated to 17 18 19 ...

did u checked ur apps in the background ? anti virus and so on as well ... what is ur CPU and GPU ?

Update ur audio driver, and as disable ur anti virus. Run a registry repair and than verifie the installation through steam than..

Try also to optimize it through GeForce experience, start with lowest settings

If your problem is that you get a black screen with the mouse, I'm afraid that this has been posted by other users and there is no proper solution yet. It started happening to me since beginning of October, for instance.

My fix is to restart the whole computer and then open the game immediately after booting up Windows: it always works this way! Then, if I close the game and I launch it again, I always get the black screen and I have to restart.

Why? No clue. Does it happens with other games? Nope, not a single one, just NBA 2K20. Will they ever fix the issue? Who knows!

Also, be careful if you press the "reset" button in your computer. It is not the first time that I have had the situation where I needed to manually delete the game files and re-install it, because Steam thinks it is not installed.

I solved the problem =) You have to update only your voice card for example Realtek HD. Thats all you need ! Afterwards you have to restart ur computer, so DONE !

Unfortunately, for me the issue is still the same, even after every driver has been updated. I just tested now: the game opens correctly after booting up Windows, then I closed it down and tried to re-open it again, and it doesn't work :P.

what exactly do you mean by all driver, i am sort of sure u missed some..

try this

Download and install Driver Easy. Then run it on your Windows.

Click Scan Now. It will quickly detect all driver problems of your computer.

( ofc u can go in to the device manager and click all and check all by ur self if there is a update aviable, takes a bit more time ... )

now you know which drivers can be updated, no need to spend money on the pro version, just that it automatically updates ur drivers



when a game does not launch it is either a corrupt file / registry, but most the time it is hardware related even if it is a PCI driver it can cause that problem ..

also update ur Windows


btw if you use Discord as well , than disable the hardware and as game detection from discord

Thanks for the great help, @z.k! However, I truly think this is something related to the game itself. In fact, I didn't have any issues playing NBA 2K20 for weeks, until in October the game got updated and I started to have the black screen issue.

In any case, I still do agree with you that most of the times these are driver-related or registry-related problems. For your own reference, I have the latest BIOS, the latest audio, chipset, gigabit ethernet, and GPU drivers, and the latest Windows version. I have tried to verify the game files, re-install the game, and other tweaks that people comment on-line (e.g., running on windowed mode), but none of them seemed to work for me, sorry!

Don't worry about it, I can still play by restarting the PC, no big deal ;). Thanks again!
