Problem trying to play with ps4 controller

I just downloaded nba2k20 and tried playing with a ps4 controller but its not responsive, and when it does it lags a lot and its unplayable. I tried everything, from trying different usb cables, usb ports, downloading various softwware with no success. My question is, if I buy a xbox controller, will it recognize it immediately? I really don't want to waste another 40 bucks on buying a controller and cant you it. Its my first time having a gamer pc and I bought the ps4 controller thinking up to this day that it was compatible with 2k games. So should buying an xbox controller solve my issue?

connected your ps4 controller with usb then start big picture mode on steam but despite ps4 controller you get a xbox layout its normal

I play with the PS4 pad flawlessly. Steam recognizes the pad and it's easy to config. 3rd party software is just a hit and miss when is not really needed.

if you need 3rd party support, use "DS4Windows" it emulates the xbox controller signal, you just have to live with xbox button prompts but it works fantastically

did it originally have the ps4 buttons?
because i it shows up with xbox buttons with mine

there is a playstation mapped button function, stop saying there isnt. As far as to why, its to do with the drivers on ur controller from windows itself, still tryna figure out why the ps4 controller just says "Wireless Controller" as opposed to my broken ps3 controller that says "Dualshock PS3 Controller".

my ps3 controller works but when i press L2 or R2 they just go to a side of the meny but when i try to go back it keep just going to a side and i cant sprint i just go to post automaticly, sorry for bad english but can someone help?
