SF will usually have the easier matchup in career. In Rec this can backfire pretty quickly though. It's also fun to play at the point with this kind of build if you're a pass first kind of person.
Short is good for speed, but also makes it easier for you to be blocked and stopped as a slasher. IMO the best height for speed for SG is 6'3, while for SF is 6'5. BUT, you do you and have fun with the game.
The best tactic is to run the pick and roll relentlessly in Career. If your opponent gets caught on the pick then charge in with a variety of moves. If they switch on you then look to catch your roll man with the inside pass. If the D presses through the pick then pass it off to a wing man and either start again or let your team play it out.
Some help for you if you want it.
To keep on your man invest in Clamps defense badge, it'll help big time.
The shooting will get easier once you have about 80 points invested in them and a big handful of badges. Look online, like 2klabs, for a good jumpshot to use.
If you're trying to get space for 3 point shots try calling for a screen. The defense will typically set-up 2 different ways depending who you call to screen for you. One way will be with the secondary defender behind your screener. If you have this set-up and your defender isn't squeezed body up on you then you can get your defender snagged if you move a couple feet. Easy-ish open shot. The other way they'll set up is both defenders on either side of your screener. When you see this set-up wait a moment and see if both defenders step back. If they do then you'll have a small window in which you can get a shot off. Call for screens in the corner when you can, the corner shot is easier.
Another way to get open is to hold the pick/screen button when you're off-ball. This will put little arrows on the court for you and your team will try to screen for you to get open. This only works if the guy with the ball doesn't pass it so be prepared to act fast. You don't always have to get to the 3 line also, once you see your defender get snagged call for the pass and try to get an open mid ranger if the opportunity is there.
Good luck and have fun
I play a lot of MyTeam and I own the John Stockton card. I find myself subbing in James Silas b/c that brother can throw it down over bigs. #feelsgood
