Watch the anime first, the game is full of spoilers and you will not understand wtf is going on.
No lol, the whole point of "Warriors" games is a mindless beat them up where the only fun is beating countless trash mobs using your favorite characters. So if you don't know any of the characters then you may as well be playing a "take out the garbage simulator". Warriors games are the epitome of lazy and theyre ALL the same. Off the top of my head, Zelda, Gundam, Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem, and Persona also have Warriors games with the same gameplay if you like any of those.

That's ridiculous. You're telling someone to spend a few hundred hours watching a show before playing a game?
OP, just buy the game if you like the Musou series. You don't need to know the story to enjoy the game.
It's a lot of fun thus far and i've watched only a small handful of One Piece.
