Game worth it if I never watched One Piece?

I played DW when I was little and have seen gameplay of OPPW and thought it looked like pure mindless fun.

Would I still get enjoyment out of it if I'm not a one piece fan? I could always try watching some episodes when I have the time, but overall, is the game worth the $15 right now?

Watch one piece first. The games story isnt that good. Its not worth it unless you have actually watched the anime and know whats happening

Most of the first few arcs are from the anime, I only am on the 3rd or 4th arc, but it's awesome to relive the series again. So it pays to watch so you know what's all going on ^^.

basicly for story telling pirate warriors 3 is way better if u don't know one piece but overal gameplay of PW4 is better then 3.

Watch the anime first, the game is full of spoilers and you will not understand wtf is going on.

No lol, the whole point of "Warriors" games is a mindless beat them up where the only fun is beating countless trash mobs using your favorite characters. So if you don't know any of the characters then you may as well be playing a "take out the garbage simulator". Warriors games are the epitome of lazy and theyre ALL the same. Off the top of my head, Zelda, Gundam, Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem, and Persona also have Warriors games with the same gameplay if you like any of those.

That's ridiculous. You're telling someone to spend a few hundred hours watching a show before playing a game?

OP, just buy the game if you like the Musou series. You don't need to know the story to enjoy the game.

well if you like some mindless hack and slash games with some alright map design and alot of fun characters with different play styles an upgrades then get it. I didn't finish the game yet but somehow it counts as if someone watched one piece to fully understand whats going on.

If you like Dynasty/Samurai/Hyrule Warriors give it a shot.
It's a lot of fun thus far and i've watched only a small handful of One Piece.

LATE AF IK but literally havent watched one piece since it came out on toonami back in the day and im enjoying this game alot for mindlessly beating up enemys.

You'll being doing yourself a favour by watching the anime first long commitment i know but it's god tier,i think this game is great but it spoils some of the greatest moments from the show and the way they're translated to the game undercut's those moments and kinda would ruin them if you see them in this game before the show,i'd probably stick to one of the non canon games like world seeker or the upcoming rpg for it.
