also, i am no entirely sure of this but i noticed that as you play more and get farther into the progression, street fights will start rewarding you win more money
It's not that difficult. It works like this: You can't let the tension bar get filled as it will cause your line to break, HOWEVER, you also cannot let all the tension drop to nothing as the fish will run away. Keep the tension between 25% - 75%. To relieve tension just pull your pole in the direction the fish is moving i.e. if it goes left pull left, if it goes right pull right. Make sure not to keep reeling in as you will just break the line and don't rush it, you have all the time in the world.
When you are in okinawa, go to the public market, look for a fish seller you can interact with, he will give you 200 000y to help him find a certain type of fish. I didnt finish the substory right away and just kept them, it helped me a lot in the beggining
The only prequisite to access this substory is to finish "walking in the plank" first, you just have to talk to a guy trying to jump in the river from a bridge not too far from the train station
it's not a way to grind money but it is of great help when you just started playing
Other than that, doing substories will most of the time give you a generous amount of yens
