2. use komaki parry then walk behind the enemies when they are stunned
For some bosses I've found that the Lotus Flower Strike (the charged heavy attack) can be surprisingly effective. Sometimes they slowly walk towards you menacingly or keep their distance waiting for you to attack, which gives you time to charge it and, not only does it have decent tracking but, for some reason, the AI seems to have trouble blocking it.
If it lands most bosses will end up flat on their face, which leaves them open for a quick stomp.
