I really enjoyed 0 and the two Kiwami games, this one feels like a chore and I've only just reached chapter 5.
Do the side stories to get experience for soul, tech, and heat if you can't fight your way to learning them. heck if you completed the non combat osaka side stories before getting to kamuraocho you'd have enough experience to get everything to lvl 5. that's enough to learn the counter moves from komaki once you get to kamurocho and makes the game laughably easy combat wise. ESPECIALLY when leveling up soul makes enemies afraid of you which makes them unable to block you whenever their is one person left OR you pick up a weapon.
heck watch a youtube video. don't forget to buy the books from beam and the weapons modder in both osaka and kamurocho. the journals (those books that look like note pads) have moves in them. Charge attacks when held to the point you have a blue aura, breaks guards that can lead to combos or grabs. if an enemy resists your grab just tap the button to make it work. or you can just pummel em once grabbed. triangle(Y) in a grab attacks behind you in case someone is getting aggro.
not sure what else to say. Just don't forget the training, the books, the side stories, and leveling up.
Stick with it. I felt the same way with the plot. dunno if you mean that or the combat but it does pick up. The plot I mean. not the combat. that really doesn't change a lot.
One thing that has made the boss fights bearable as I don't have access to the apparently useful upgrades yet, is they all seem to take place in areas with lots of weapons you can pick up. Hopefully that'll continue.
