Bowling.
It really makes you appreciate how much have minigames moved forward since 3, because boyit is rought here. Pool is screwed, darts are screwed, bowling is screwed. Only batting cages and golf work fine.

So - 200 at bowling. I'm pretty sure unlocking the substory is harden than actually finishing it. I've been at it for an hour already and my best is 160 171. I tried looking tips online, but none of them really clicked. The margin of error between a strike and a few pins standing is minuscule. I need help.

And I was great at bowling in 0! Darts too!

:edit:
I've been bowling so much, that my alcohol icon has disappeared. I'VE NEVER BEEN SOBER IN THIS GAME YET!

Step 1: limit framerate to 30

Step 2: Go 4 steps to the left

Step 3: Aim all the way to the right

Step 4: Go for the highest power meter. Upon switching to 30fps, I would constantly get 98 which is great.

Step 5: Spin the ball all the way to the left.

Results were beautiful, I actually managed to get a strike in EVERY SINGLE ROUND with this method.

It's glitched, no matter what you do physics are broken, so don't bother. Need to wait for a fix if they fix it at all.
Funnily enough, it works fine on Yakuza 4.

Thank you! It worked phenomenally. While I didn't get a strike in each section (likely due to my incompetence) - it was incredibly easy to reach 200, in comparison to my previous attempts.
If direction / power is a little off - you get 9/Spare with the leftmost pin standing. In one of my attempts I got seven(!) 9/Spares.

Shameful that most of these issues can be half-solved with limiting framerate to 30fps or increasing rendering to 200%... I remember Bowling in the very beggining when doing Haruka's Requests and getting my ass handed to me due to weird physics in Bowling...

Tell me about it, I was struggling as all hell at first. I've yet to catch a Tuna, heard that one is a complete nightmare.

There's a five frame window to press X. A ~couple of frames more, if you react by the line movement and not the prompt. Doubling the render resolution to play in slow mo helps, but then I've failed to actually reel it in. Tried several times, gave up and paid up 300k.

Just gave it a try, I'd rather fight Jingu and Amon without upgrades than to attempt it ever again.

I legit have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but no matter what strategy I use for the life of me I can't get 200, closest ive gotten was 188. Maybe i just need to git gud but it seems like sometimes I'll hit the pins in the exact same spot, force, and spin that I got a strike with, but it leaves half the pins standing, not sure if its the game or me at this point.

Bowling is exactly the same as it was in 0 and Kiwami 1 so tricks from that games also works here. Go few steps left (4 or 5) and aim into center pin with max power. I had no problems getting 200+.
Pool it's a different story...

I used Cheat Engine's speedhack to be more consistent and one pixel can make an absurd difference, it's ridiculous.

For what it's worth, here was my successful strategy:
Set FPS Cap to 30 and the speedhack to 0.25 (I recommend assigning a hotkey to it in the options).
Move four ticks (so two markers) to the left.
Activate the speedhack and aim one tick to the right of the middle line, this should aim ever-so-slightly on the left of the second-row pin.
Get 98 power and 3 ticks of spin to the right (so the second line is half-saturated). Deactivate speedhack.

The speedhack shouldn't actually matter (I hope) but it makes the reaction time four times longer than normal (you will have to hold the button a bit and get used to the delay).

That tuna can go ♥♥♥♥ itself, along with the whole Fishing mini-game.

Anyone else who just can't get this method to work for them? Can't get consistent strikes like this.

been bowling for probably a total of maybe like 4 hours, so it might just be me, but it hasn't changed much.

I know this is kinda soon to be replying but I just managed a 219 game.
What worked for me was moving to the dot 2nd furthest to the left, aiming directly between the center pin and the one directly to the left of it, and hitting it with a power of 98 on average, usually gave me a strike or left one pin on the end that was easy to knock out, also i was playing capped at 30fps. Dunno if this'll help but it worked out for me in the end, hang in there.
