Catching a Tuna?

Any tips? I'm having a hell of a lot of trouble with this. They usually get away before I can really even start fighting with them.

Like I'll even be pressing L1 to give the line slack but the tension still rises. What's going on?

First of all, I played it on PS3, and the fishing minigame seems to be a bit broken (affected by the FPS - a common problem of these ports, since time is often measured in frames, not seconds).

The fish seem to change direction and strength of their pull too fast and too abruptly which makes the minigame IMO much more difficult than on PS3.

Ah, so it's more difficult than it should be? I set it to 30 FPS just in case but it still seems to do the same thing. Is there any way to cheese it?

I have the same problem, I've tried lowering my FPS to 30 and it doesn't seem to help :/

From the videos I've seen from the PS4 version it seems that the tension doesn't rise or fall as quickly as it does in the PC version. Even after setting it to 30fps

Yeah it's really annoying, I've posted about it in the bug thread. I'm glad someone else has the same problem as me at least, lets hope it gets fixed soon.

I beat it after trying for about 30 mins. I swear I felt more tension getting the damn tuna than in most boss fights Iv ever played.

I mean now that I know it works I can probably do it again but its gotta be harder than intended. I mean to even start catching the harder fish you have to mash the button,otherwise your bait is taken faster than you can reasonably react. The thing in your favor is even tho the line builds tension very quickly it also loses it as well. So if you wanna try and beat it I would suggest just trying your best to match the fish movements and only pulling the fish in while your in green, then when it starts to shoot up dont give line just wait it will go down fast. That way you will have enough time to react if it changes directions. Hopefully this is helpful.

Also tried to catch the Tuna but I can't even get it on the hook. The button prompt is just too damn short even if I cap the game at 30 FPS.

you can mash the button, you dont need to wait for the prompt.
