The usual strategy is to lay down in a bush, wait until your dragon is nearly starving, and then kill a worm. I believe

how does that help to lay in a bush until starving to attack something that insta-kills you when you're not starving. does starving make you more powerful?

There are big worms and smaller worms. My suggestion is to run and nip at the smaller worms while running in a circle. Do this when you're near starvation as you will be at a good enough growth to maximize your chances of killing the worm and thus surviving. Hope this helps!

When you use R to rest/sleep, you are increasing how quickly your dragon grows. By the time you are close to running out of food, your dragon will have grown quite a lot, enough to where you will have a higher chance of killing a leech before it kills you. Look for the small or medium-sized leeches, the big ones you will most likely die to. At least not without help.

Of course, you could also use the in-game chat to find other players who are older dragons who might be willing to help you out. Just make sure you join a populated server. Right now you might have a hard time finding one(outside of The Forgotten Realms or maybe Official 1), as most players are waiting for the .9 update that's slated to arrive soon. But if you join one that has a few players, those usually are the players who have stuck with the game a while ,and most are pretty good about helping out if you are friendly to them =)

there were no other dragons around at the time. then i switched servers to one with more dragons but the worms there were even bigger, so i just ran out into the desert to see if there was a better place to try to survive, but i died of hunger crossing the desert. not very impressed with the game at this point. cool graphics, cool idea, bad game, at least at this point

Patience is definitely needed for this game. We will see how it goes. The placeholder map is truly not that great since it's so barren, and deserts tend to be like...hard mode, which isn't a great first impression. But the .9 update is suppose to have at LEAST 2 or 3 biomes to pick from, so least we'll have variety when that drops =)

In the current stage of the game you cannot hunt anything until you have reached 0.2 - 0.3 growth. You are required to sleep to grow faster and stay alive until you are close to starvation (your dragon should be almost 0.3 growth by then). Once you have reached this point you can hunt the smaller leaches. Stay away from the large leaches until you are 0.75 or older growth! Do not attempt to hunt any other AI except leaches until you are full 1.0 adult as they will instantly kill you.

The current demo that is being sold has bare bones and is not the actual game. The game is supposed to start its development and start receiving new batch notes after the Q1 2020, expected time of arrival in February - May 2020.
