On steam deck

"great on deck" doesn't seem to reflect the state of the game on steam deck for me, despite it being verified.

Starting in the main menu, I can't seem to use the normal controls and am instead forced to use the touch screen to interact with any of the menu options. Going into the game, nothing changes. It's playable, but requires me to control a cursor with my r-stick

Does anyone have a different experience and maybe I'm just missing something that I need the game to run correctly? The controls options doesn't seem to help much either.
