Does changing job make you lose progress in the previous job?

So, basically I’ve been job hopping as better paying jobs turn up. I’ve already made huge progress with the fire station job as I complete university degrees to get those high end jobs.

Anyway, should I decide to go back to old jobs, would my rank level be kept or do I start at the very bottom?

I’d experiment if I could but if I lose progression in the fire station, I’m screwed.

I didn't try the fire station one but i am max rank on police (Chief of Police). I took the zoogle job and swapped back to police to test it and i still have my max rank. I am not sure if you will lose your progress on previous ranks tho.
