All I said was that the Easter bunny at the Menlo Park mall was more convincing and he just jumped the railing and knocked me down.

Definitely a challenging game but so worth it once you get those credits rolling.
I get it a 9/10, half a point taken off for how short the game is, and the other half point taken off for the final level taking you back to the previous level when you have to use a continue

I can see how this game might not be for everyone, as it's surprising how many people are unaware of the NES Honebrew scene, but for a beat-em-up that confines itself to the hardware of the original NES, Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl is a rewarding, but extremely punishing game that I feel is unquestionably going to frustrate those who are unaware of what they're getting into. Even I started out unsure I was going to like this, but it grew on me, since most situations still felt like they were achievable, never frustrating me to the point of giving up. If nothing else a short rest to clear my head and think straight about how to approach each enemy was enough to succeed in the next attempt. If you miss the 2D beat-em-ups of the NES and Nintendo Hard difficulty to match, give this a GO.

Fun game, even in the back of a Volkswagen

This game is a lot of fun. If you enjoy the classic NES era beat-em-up games like TMNT and Double Dragon etc, you'll enjoy this.

Mall Brawl is a really fun, true to its roots beat 'em up with great reverence for the View Askewniverse. It completely nailed the feel of an NES beat 'em up while never feeling unfair, and was very satisfying to learn the simple combat system and how to fight each new enemy type. We were also surprised by the great soundtrack. Definitely comes highly recommended for Kevin Smith fans, though it may be a little too basic (and maybe a smidge too expensive) for fans only of the beat 'em up genre, despite how high quality it is.

Minor complaints:
- It's kind of disappointing that weapons disappear after each encounter.
- I wish there were another use for the stars. AFAIK it's currently just an alternate combo finisher, would be cool if you could hold the attack button to pull the finisher out early since it's hard to get a full combo in on some bosses.
- The _ knocker boss fights are annoying. Wait, attack, run around, rinse and repeat.
- If you die on Chapter 9, you get taken back to Chapter 8. Didn't get to check if the same is true if you quit on Chapter 9 and attempt to resume from the save select, but I wonder.

Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl is a side-scrolling beat 'em up that would have been well at home in the 1980s. Mall Brawl is a solid, if not quite spectacular, Double Dragon clone, with detailed 8-bit graphics, a decent variety of bosses and opponents, and nine levels of outrageous punches. Reckless women with baby strollers, and even a poop monster are there for you to defeat. You read that correctly: a "♥♥♥♥" monster. Mall Brawl features the duo's trademark potty humor.

While enemies are essentially cut and pasted with different color ensembles or costumes, boss fights are where Mall Brawl shines. Each boss battle is unique and memorable. You'll face a crazed man riding a unicorn, a brawl on a gigantic air hockey table, a Mega Man-inspired duel, and even a poop monster hidden in the mall's restrooms. Boss fights are both tough and enjoyable, especially since you know you'll have to retry the entire level if you fail.

In Mall Brawl, you only have one life, but you can control both Jay and Silent Bob (or one of them if you play in co-op), who each have their own health meter. While playing alone, you can freely swap between the two. While you are actively playing, the character that is not being used will gradually replenish their health - but be advised, you cannot stand still and expect health to regenerate. You must be actively progressing or fighting. This strategy, possibly the finest way to play Mall Brawl, requires players to stay active and switch between characters frequently.

When playing co-op, each player controls one of the characters, each with their own health meter that does not refill on its own. However, if one player dies and the other survives long enough, the other character will gradually restore their health and allow them to rejoin the game once their health meter is around half full. It adds a good level of tension to survival when you're up against a boss or numerous enemies and running low on health.

The only downside: While I appreciate a good challenge, I believe Mall Brawl lands on the side of difficulty and more in the playable but too stressful to be pleasant pile. This is due to the long stages, only having one life, no difficulty options, being forced to restart from the beginning of the level upon death, aggressive adversaries with unusually big health reserves, wacky controls (Turning while attacking / spamming is not possible), and just too much being thrown at you, especially towards the finish.

Casual players beware, but everyone else can buy this without any hestitation!

Great Game
A shame that the quarantine is still going on. This would be an amazing game to couch co-op and drink to (among obvious other things) with others.

Pros
Several parodies to classic Nintendo games such as Double Dragon (obviously), Megaman, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Kirby. I also saw a Dragonball reference but probably missed quite a few others.
Classic chiptune soundtrack to clobber enemies to.
Plays exactly how you'd expect from Double Dragon or River City Rampage.
Has a dedicated jump button so you're not having to press Punch+Kick like back in the day.
Drop-in Drop-out multiplayer for that steam-sharing goodness.
Plenty of difficulty to it.
New Game +, was not expecting this.

Cons
Reminds me just how easy games have gotten.
Short game overall, New Game + adds more twists and is not for the faint of heart, but oh so good.
The shopping cart part is not to be messed with under any influences.
Easter Bunny mascot deserves some love.
♥♥♥♥-Knocker fight is too easy.
Boss Rush isn't a playable mode, it is however a mission segment.

🏪 What the frick is the «Mall Brawl»? Could be worse, but it's just... meh? If you don't like old moldy games, then this is definitely a miss. Despite not bad graphics & music, the tech part is clumsy. Seriously, it doesn't even use d-pad to navigate menus. The tactics are simple: punch sometimes, but kick more often, without allowing to be surrounded by two enemies on the screen. The bosses are at least relatively interesting, the references are good (both to films and NES classics), can be played through in an hour or so. There is a Hard mode, but it's impossible even with the turbo buttons configured through soft. Not worth full price, little man. At least it's not a complete scam.

Love the game and i just saw they did a patch and hope that added in sound control
