Installing the Complete Universe FaceGen Pack and have a question..
Hi all! I am brand new to the game and literally learning as i go with the aid of a few old youtube videos from older versions and did not want to see greyed out player faces everywhere so i looked up the above mod on the workshop which seems to be exactly what i am after.

I have installed the mod in game after subscribing to it on the workshop

As far as i can see on my own team they all have their faces but i was wondering if i still need to generate more.

Player facegen pictures is set to None by default (so i guess the only faces i see are from the mod) but i did generate coach/manager facegen pictures as they don't seem to be included in the mod.
My understanding is this will just fill in any gaps where there is no image, is that correct? Do i need to select from None to All Players to fill any gaps or is everyone covered in this mod?

Does anyone know? this mod has 47,000 players in it which should be more than enough for everybody but i don't know whether i will need to generate more as i play longer.

Also, I have looked over the official mod forums but have not been able to find a photo pack for the players with a working download link.

Does anyone know where i can get a player photo pack as i cant seem to find one anywhere!

I basically just want photos for the major leagues if possible, facegen for those that aren't covered and logos and uniforms accurately represented as this is what i do with Football Manager before playing.

Thank you for any help and have a great weekend!

I want to help, but perhaps some others like AZAxle can be more detailed. Facegen pictures seem to be somewhat complex for most OOTP players. I confess that I have more to learn. Here are some basics:

1. From Game>Game Settings>Players & Facegen:
Player Facegen Pictures. Use drop-down option of All Players. This will take some time.
Create Players Facegen. Use Upon Player Creation.
Update Pictures & FG. Use On Status.
Scroll down to Player Facegen Functions and click Update. This will take some time and will affect all teams.

2. From Team>Team Settings> (Team Logos and Stuff):
Update this team's pictures. This option will only affect the one team.

3. From Player>Edit>Picture Functions
You may chose several:
a. Import photofit facegen file. Best if then click on filter and then type player name to find.
b. Import photo file. Best if then click on filter and then type player name to find.
This option will only affect one player.

I hope that this helps you a little bit but some players seem to be missing from files or their pictures or photos seem to be a bit wrong. The OOTP forums have had some Mods that people have posted with improved pictures and photos. One is by FancySkunk at the following link:
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/showthread.php?t=313740

I do invite AZAxle and others to correct me if I am off base here or if I could describe the situation better. Facegen is complex for even fellows like me who have played the game for years. With some patience I think that you should get adequate facegens regardless of whether you play the 2020 season or some historical year.

Good luck to you.

and about "did not want to see greyed out player faces everywhere"

make sure for color that Game>GameSettings>Players&FaceGen under drop-down for FaceGen Color Mode is set to normal and not black&white nor sepia.

the OOTP Steam Workshop is a good place for historical uniforms. Check out Major League Jerseys and Caps by No Pepper and Reds1.

Hey biggalloot, thanks for your detailed replies! I have gone though the settings as you described and all seems to be working great now! Did updating the FaceGens just add missing faces that weren't in the mod or have i just replaced the ones from the mod?

Good catch with the black and white mode option i didn't even see that before but it is definitely set to normal.

I have been through the official forum and found a couple of mods i liked the sound of though i couldn't figure out how to install them ("American Baseball 1871-Present Complete" and "Updated Versions of Major League Teams").

I guess they would conflict with my workshop mods anyway so i have archived them for now.

I have gone though the workshop too and added the "Major League Jerseys and Caps" mod you recommended and the "Major League Stadiums" one too as well as the "Complete Universe FaceGen Pack", now i think all i need to do is watch some more YouTube videos showing me what on earth to do now!! ;-)

Absolutely loving it so far even though i am completely and utterly lost even after hours of YouTube!

Thanks again and have a great week!

kyle,
glad to help what litle i can, like i mentioned, it is one of the more complex things for most people here but others better than me can probably give you best directions.

and about: "Did updating the FaceGens just add missing faces that weren't in the mod or have i just replaced the ones from the mod?"

i am not sure exactly what you mean but i have found some facegens which look not quite right. for example, the facegen of Roberto Clemente some years looks strange but the photo version is Ok. i guess you could mix and match facegen and photos?

others know more than i do. good luck to you.

Thanks buddy, it's all academic anyway as everything is running great and faces all round as far as i have seen!

I haven't been able to find any photo packs though so could i trouble you further to recommend one? this game is so deep i don't know why i am so hung up on this, i have the same issue with Football Manager and am never happy unless i am tinkering with something in an insane quest for realism or something! Thanks again!

to Kyle:
like i mentioned, some know more about facegen and photos than i do. one thing to check out is the OOTP Forums.
for example, here is a link to one photopack project by tnfoto: https://sites.google.com/site/tnfotobbpics/home

i personally do not know for sure how tnfoto's mod works compared to possibly others, but if you have the time to spare perhaps you might check it out.

Thanks for the link, i have downloaded the pack and am trying to figure out how to install it, but that is exactly what i was looking for!

Edit: Well i pasted the folders into the photos folder as that seemed appropriate and updated the players faces in game however, i must have done something wrong as the photos did not appear.

Nevermind i am happy enough with the FaceGen anyway.

I followed this thread and got the facegen stuff to work, though I'm trying to run the historical stadiums by silvam14 from the workshop, and even though it says the mod is loaded, when I go to the ballpark editor a lot of the historical stadiums are still using the default graphic. Any ideas?

to Rifton:
the historical parks and other parks at the Workshop typically require another step to get them loaded.
for example, let's say that i want to load Frontier Field at Rochester (the Twins' AAA club) and i have downloaded the AAA parks from the Workshop.
1. Click on the team (Rochester in this case)
2. Click on settings
3. Click on edit ballpark (Notice that it does not yet show what Frontier Field looks like)
4. Click on actions
5. From drop-down menu click on Manually import data from file into this park
6. Click on Frontier Field from your list of ballparks
7. Click on the .prk file
8. Click load
You now should have Rochester playing in Frontier Field
From here you can click on 3Model if you wish to edit camera angles.

The same routine should be followed for historical ballparks.

Let me know if this works for you.

Are the mod files supposed to show up there as well? For example I'm trying to play as Houston from 1962 forward and I don't see Colt Stadium or the Astrodome in that "manually import data" section
biggalloot Sep 13, 2020 @ 2:18am
look in the OOTP21>data>ballparks folder. i see both Colt Stadium and Astrodome there in my ballparks folder, but i downloaded a number of ballparks from the workshop.

is Colt and Astrodome listed as in the workshop files you downloaded but not shown in the ballparks folder? from the OOTP21 start screen, click workshop central. see your list of subscribed items (i show both Colt and Astrodome there, for example). click on the subscribed item and and then try clicking on the tab install or re-install.

same thing for silvan's stadiums. you might try re-install from workshop central.

silvan also made separate files for each of Colt and Astrodome at the workshop. go ahead and subscribe to them, download them, and install them. i have both silvans' large workshop stadium file and also his individual stadium files.

keep me informed on your progress.
