I was looking at the 'forgotten realms fandom'... 'Descent into Avernus' (DiA) is dated 1492 DR.
I wonfer if the story of BG3 takes place after 'DiA' or vice versa?
"1492 DR in conflicts
The city of Elturel is pulled into the first layer of the Nine Hells, Avernus, leaving nothing behind but a crater.
1492 DR in politics
Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard of Baldur's Gate disappears during a diplomatic visit to Elturgard when he is taken to Avernus along with Elturel. This leaves the Flaming Fist without a leader, so Duke Dillard Portyr recalls his niece, Liara Portyr, from Chult in order to take command of the mercenary army.
Migrations in 1492 DR
A flood of refugees arrive in Baldur's Gate from Elturgard following the disappearance of Elturel. In response, the city bars its outer gates against them.
Deaths in 1492 DR
Duke Dillard Portyr of Baldur's Gate is assassinated."
BG3 is basically a sequel to Descent to Avernus and less a sequel to the older entries. However, there'll be (probably obvious) nods to them.
