Buying a PC for gaming is a wise decision. Even a console would be wiser than a Mac. There are like no reasons to buy a Mac just for gaming. It is like trying to say a Fiat Topolino is a real car.
In the meanwhile make sure to inform Larian Studios about your issues.

No one buys a Mac for gaming but a lot of people has a Mac and it worked very well with BG3, better than on a current-get console, before Patch 6 was out.
An alternative would be making use of a streaming service such as GeForce Now. But yeah, for a photographer Mac is a fine choice. Just not for gaming.
So I agree with this sentiment for games that don't endeavor to work on Mac at all, but Mac is a first party supported platform by Larian Studios, so it is not unreasonable to expect the same degree of quality control that a console or PC would receive by the developers. As someone who also works in software development I'm aware this isn't always possible, but if you're gonna present people with the option you also need to follow that up with QC.
Amazingly the steam deck and linux circumvents this by just providing a lightweight shim that allows for near native support for Windows games, meaning that Linux users see all the same support that Windows users do. That's a unique case tho, Mac, much like a console, has it's own world of hardware that needs to be accounted for to run natively.
Mac gaming is crushing it lately. It's unfortunate that these hotfixes borked the game for us, but hopefully it will be fixed soon. There is a way to rollback to hotfix 20 but it is too much work for me to deal with -- unless they don't get it fixed in the next month or so. I'll just rollback and lock the game at that point if that's the case.
How do you rollback to a previous version ?
I did a write-up on how to perform the rollback, here's a link
Guys do you have any new info?
