Slow loading and pop-in textures on PC
Hello! Hope to find some help.

I'm dealing with a frustrating new issue: the texture quality keeps flickering during dialogues and cutscenes. Different parts of the models seem to be in different settings, constantly changing from low to high and back again.

Video demonstration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdgqAH05N7A

I've got around 100 mods installed. The vanilla game without mods has the same issue.

The game is stored on an SSD with 220 GB of free space - Samsung ssd 860 evo 500gb. My PC specs are: Nvidia GeForce 2080 (8 GB), 32 GB of RAM, an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X, and Windows 10 Pro. There are no overheating problems, and my PC is dust-free.

Does anyone have the same issue? Have you found a solution?

As soon as mods are involved you are on your own. Otherwise I would recommend emptying up the levelcache and advise you to increase the shader cache via control panel to 100 GB

Vanilla has exact same problem with loading textures. :(

Which SSD model? Also, are you using texture mods? Do you have the "SLOW HDD MODE" enabled in settings?

Samsung SSD 860 evo 500gb. No, I don't use texture mods. No, I don't use slow HDD mode. It doesn't help me with performance anymay.

I assume it shows up as "good health" in Samsung Magician software, and you've enabled the recommended 10% overprovisioning.

Graphics driver updated, tried with the recommended settings in the Nvidia app, etc. ?

Anyway, hard to say exactly why this happens as there could be many causes. There will probably be a hotfix #28 next week if we go by the SteamDB logs, so if it's not too bothersome then I would wait for that before spending too much time on it.

32 GB Ram... DDR4? running at what speed? Is it using XMP for the higher speed? In which case, Not overclocking it, might help. It sound counterproductive, but often games (BG3 included) don't like any overclocking and whilst it may normally work fine, once pushed to its limits it can become unstable.

Hmmmm... I will check it. Thank you for the idea.

DDR4, 2666 MHz speed, no overlocking.

I have set up a 10% overprovisioning. Will see how it will work out. :)
