Crashing since Hotfix 18
Currently verifying files as since Hotfix 18 earlier today the game does not run for more than a few mins without crashing. 3 attempts, 3 fails. No mods so it cannot be that. I have 373.7 hours in BG3 since early access, 41 in my current playthrough and no issues prior to today. Has anyone else been hampered by Hotfix 18 ?

No.

Yeah, I have. I've been looking at a bunch of different fixes, including one that included console commands for Steam and downloading the old files again. At the moment it's looking like it's supposed to sort itself out within the next day or so. If it doesn't, I'm guessing a lot of people are reaching out to the Devs to let them know that there's an issue. And I'm sure they'll jump on it if it doesn't resolve on its own.

I use mods, so I'm having the same issue, but for different reasons. For me it seems that the solution will be waiting for the BG3 Script Extender to update, which is going to take a day or two.

Hope this helped a little!

Having verified the files through Steam I have had a couple of hours of clear play with no crashes. That seems to be the way forward if anyone else is having issues. My CFG file was reset so had to redo my Keys but I had only changed a couple (swapped B & I) so no big deal.

3070ti but the issue seemed to be related to a corrupt file caused by the update as verifying the files put things back on track (as i was before the update) with no issues at all since.

Nice. Many Nvidia GPU users are experiencing similar problems then what you describe. Often overheating and system crash. Trying to still pinpoint what is causing it.

AMD 6600 XT on v24.1.1 drivers and no crashes at all unitl today. I just had 3 in the last hour trying to collect mythral in grimforge after doing all the fighting. No mods, and able to send error logs. Still happening after validating the game, validating windows 11, and validating my drivers were up to date.

For you one question: using Vulkan right? If so, sadly once you enter Grimforge vulkan stops being the better option. As in in Grimforge and in ACT2 it will crash your game quite often. (even if you leave Grimforge and go back to the normal places you visited, for some reason it tends to carry over.)

DirectX 11 is what I use

Also I have been poking around grimforge for about 3 days real time, and it started crashing today.

Need to contact Larian then. There is no official support for the game on Steam.
Check sticky post how to do it.

edit: is your 6600 XT 8 GB? What graphical settings are you running the game on?

They have been getting bug reports from me, and I have other games to play....so not terribly worried.

I have kept an eye on card temps and no issues there. Plus no issues on Cyberpunk or Starfield or FarCry 6. Just BG3 which has been resolved by file verification via Steam.
