Of course it is not intentional.

Great. Thanks for sharing.
Larian, fix this!
I recommend once they drop do a quick save and then load a save from BEFORE you started to head to the brain. Then once they join just load up your latest save which will be at the point they dropped...
My brother and I are having this issue many times and it's making it impossible to finish the campaign together. Everytime we get loaded back into the fight with the brain and the crown, suddenly I get knocked back to the main menu with a message "connection to the server has timed out". My brother runs the game from his PC since he started it but we stay connected via steam and discord so we are at a loss on why we keep dropping.
I wish there was no restriction to inviting players back into the game if they drop out. It wouldn't be so bad then...
Yeah my friends and I have been in an 8 month game on Honour mode, and the message before the morphic pool said 'No NEW players can join' so I thought we'd still be able to join if we stopped playing.
1) Load all the way back to a save BEFORE getting on the skiff.
2) Go to camp. Long Rest, Leave Camp
3) Friends join
4) Load save back at the last segment.
