For starters, I deleted all mods including the overrides, started a new game, and still have the issue. Nothing in the mods folder, nothing, including overrides, on the enabled side of BG3MM,
1) I renamed the 'Baldur's Gate 3' folder under C:\users\[name]\Appdata\Local\Larian Studios\. A clean new 'Baldur's Gate 3' folder was created, sans 'mods' and 'BG3 Mod Manager' folders. Started a new game, and the inventory is back and functioning properly.
2) Copied the BG3 Mod Manager folder from the renamed folder into the new folder. Ran it and confirmed there are no enabled mods and no overrides present. Started a new game and inventory is still back and functioning properly.
3) Copied contents from the old mods folder into the new one. Ran mod manager and confirmed an empty left panel, no mods or overrides. Started a new game, no issue.
4) Quit game, enabled all mods other than the previously deleted overrides. Did a CTRL-E, started a new game. No inventory issues and the few mods I could test after playing a few minutes were present (i.e. the Death Knight class mod (great mod btw) and the one that puts a basic vendor in the first area in the Nautiloid).
5) Enabled Plus UI (also Improved UI as it's a requirement). Confirmed it's in the mod manager and enabled. CTRL-E. Started a new game and the inventory issue returned. Also, on the character creation screen, some of the class icons were invisible (all modded classes, but were selectable).
6) Removed Plus UI but left Improved UI enabled. CTRL-E. Started new game, some (modded) class icons invisible but selectable, and the inventory was properly functional.
7) Re-enabled Plus UI, CTRL-E, new game, inventory issue returned.
8) Just as a confirmation, deleted Plus UI (left Improved UI) and the issue is kaput.
9) Returned all other overrides (one at a time), and went through the new game test.
Results:
. AllTypesofResistance broke the inventory. Uploaded the update and no inventory issue.
. Better Containers - Could not load saved game. Bumped back to Main Menu. Downloaded update and no issue.
After confirming Plus UI is the likely culprit, I did the acid test and loaded a save game and
no inventory issue.
So yeah, looks like Plus UI (at least in my case) is the issue, along with the other two overrides which have been fixed with updates.
Larian's Discord says they implemented Patch #6 on 02/16/2024. Some of my mod creators updated their mods immediately. I uploaded those mods into my game on the 17th very early in the morning. Everything worked great. Didn't play again until this morning. At this point, I've already been through the game once so I'm just playing around in it now, trying to see what things I missed, and some opportunities I could take. I uploaded 3 mods this morning (19th) and had the same broken inventory problem everyone else was having that had PlusUI. Found this discussion and unloaded PlusUI - it never worked right for me. It was supposed to allow me to use a different race and that race was never available when I started my second playthrough so I didn't bother much about deleting PlusUI.
Unfortunately, my game is wrecked now. Something is very wrong. I tried figuring out which mod was causing the problem (several are broken now) by taking them out, rolling them back, etc. but one mod has gotten so "extra" that when I delete it the game just loops until I quit and put it back in.
Do they constantly do little updates? I can't figure out if the patch was done on the 16th, why I'm just now having problems with everything else. Thanks to anyone who might have some insight on that. I don't want to completely uninstall BG3 and reinstall everything, but if I have to, I guess I have to.
Not surprised.
I am actually wondering how many mods contain certain malicious lines hidden in them:)
Especially since there is no real verification for mods.:D
The thing is: I do not see them as malicious. If you know they are there, they are there. You install and use a mod knowing the risks and how they work. Otherwise you do not.
One ironclad rule in that regards which is often recited in other lessons of life: do not use what you do not understand.
I know but about 98% of the guys using mods have no clue how they work. What snippets can be added to them abusing that the game will get some permissions via the OS:D
(I sometimes seriously consider writing a mod for a game and add a certain feature, like if you press a certain button it will round robin between screenshot, alt+f4, and format:D)
Worked for me, thank you so much!
