Except for the CPU we have the same hardware. More or less. I got the Intel Core i7-7700k. And you seem to have forgotten to write what version of Windows you are using.
When you wrote clean boot, you did mean it like here, right?
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3020212758
Which driver did you rollback to?
The version of Windows is Windows 10, it's listed under the GPU. If you mean the specific version, it is 10.0 Build 19045.
I did not do that at the time of writing the post, but have since tested it and it did not help. I will update the OP to reflect it.
What security app are you using? I am using Kaspersky, and I can tell it to stop for 5 minutes before it auto-reactivates. Maybe you can check if your security suit has detected something unusual or try launching the game while having the suite disabled for a minute.
What I am missing is whether you use Windows 10 Home, Pro, S, etc.
When you changed your drivers for GPU, did you use DDU?
I did not use DDU, however I can try that now.
Hm. I like to check your DxDiag report.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3018815871
And I like you to check the points I have mentioned here
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3016159305
What I am missing is somewhat alike the experience mentioned here
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1086940/discussions/3/6045572169633448767/
So far I spot only the point regarding cloud services in your list, while shader cache/virtual memory is missing. But that will be more clear once I can have a look on the DxDiag report.
I'll go through and see what I can do while you look through the pastebin.
Okey, dokey. Also, check the uncommon causes mentioned near the bottom of the guide. Some suspects might appear in the DxDiag, others do not - so I would not be able to find them, but you might.
Your Crucial X6, you use for your android/Mac as well?
C: is awfully packed, anything there which you could move to D: to lessen the load on your main drive?
What is the exact installation path of your game at the moment?
Let me know once you used DDU and installed the latest driver again.
I would recommend to run CCleaner to identify onboard hardware which might have gotten an update. Not sure if it helps. But I would not outrule the possibility after one mentioned it worked after they updated their outdated BIOS and chipsets.
We should definitely check whether we can free up some space on C: for you, so you have more leeway there for the temporary files.
You can use CrystalDisk for a quickie health check of your storage drives while you are on it.
No, I have only used it on this Desktop. I bought it solely for this game, since my other SSD did not have the space for it.
I freed up about 10GB just now, but it'd probably take much more time to get more than that.
"E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\bin\bg3_dx11.exe"
Will do these as soon as I can.
Hm. I got the worry you might have paid too much for the SSD. If it was more than 60 EUD you might be better off with a refund. Otherwise it is just okay.
The reason why I asked about that is the file format, where you go with exFAT. Not exactly something Steam and Windows likes. But we can postpone that to a later time if you wish to discuss it further.
Ideal would be, considering the pagefile size, at least 90 GB. 70 GB is the lower limit. Your PC can work with almost no free space on C:, but everything which might access your temporary files can create issues that way. So apps, games, even videos.
I like you to copy
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3
to
D:\BG3TS
after a PC restart try again using the 2nd Windows user you have made before, launching the game from D:\BG3TS
The TS just means troubleshooting and we are just using a different name so we can differentiate it better.
Your installation on E:, and the copy on D:
Let me know the outcome. I check on this thread from time to time. So no rush either. I might soon head off, though, as it is close to midnight over here.
I am at 75.3 GB free (according to the File Explorer), I can probably squeeze out a few more GB but I kind of doubt that freeing more would cause it to not crash instantly. I'll come back to this though if you think it'll do the trick.
Done. Still crashes as before, unfortunately.
What about the shader cache size?
Last approach would be using the debug profile, as described here with an official download
https://larian.com/support/faqs/crashing-upon-startup-pc_59
I can guarantee you that the game works perfectly fine for me, and the differences are the CPU, the Windows version, the storage and I have 50% more RAM. Nonetheless with the setup you have it is supposed to work.
Did you also used the .NET repair tool and DirectX reinstall and Visual C stuff as mentioned in the essentials guide? No suspects found from the uncommon issues list?
