Looks like the game should still be in early access. (since they did not really give players ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE PARASITES when they choose to not use them).
Like if we choose to NOT want to use them. Which I am there with you General. Then we should have some other options of what we can do with them.
Like what if we could destroy them and gain a nice junk of XP from them?
I would love that.
They are essentially free skills anyway but most of the mindflayer skills are terribly designed and I do not even want to bother getting them..
I mean look at these horrible designed abilities.
- Sacrifice half your HP to give it to another.....
(why would anyone pick such a horribly designed ability when you can simply cast a healing spell without hurting the character that heals). Or how about drinking a heal potion....
This is the 1st ability that is obviously trash.
Other ones are basically all the other abilities that sacrifice something like hurting yourself to do damage etc. Like why the hell would anyone bother with those... they need to first start by removing the negative affects these things give. After that we can go from there.
There are a few good ones like free cast. Actually that is probably the only good one.
Because even the things that deal damage are so low in damage and even the ones that knock people and objects around... well you can do that with SPELLS or arrows..
An arrow of thunder... will knock enemies around.. and the spell thunder push or w/e its called will knock them around.
So the mindflayer abilities need to be improved. If you are gonna have a player use these mindflayer things. Then why not make them better.
Example: Make those mind flayer push abilities push them harder so they do more damage... may be a little further than they do now.
In a perfect world though, I suppose what they could've done was, instead of finding tadpoles specifically, you instead just draw out a spark of power from someones soul (which is pretty much what you're doing anyway with the tadpole)
then, they could have several different systems. Like, sure, the mindflayer path, but then there could've been a good guy oriented path to put points into, then dark urge would probably need his own system too. Then there could be some sort of neutral path. So they could've given us like 3-5 different skill trees to invest in, choosing to veer down the path of good, evil, embrace the mind flayer, embrace the dark urge, etc
that would've been much better. because as it stands, theres no reason at all to just turn out a tad pole point especially when some of those powers are extremely strong, like the auto crit for your entire party (group of 4 paladins says what?)
It would be cool if modders created a system like that for us, to give us more options/freedom but even modders cant really add a proper alignment system to the game.
im still amazed they ditched the original storyline and decided to go with the whole "The mindflayer wants you to put worms in your brain" storyline. I mean. Seriously. I'd love to have been at that meeting to hear the argument, because it must've been the most compelling speech in the last 60 years.
I decided to play as a good and clean character this play through, so I killed the parasite from the dwarf.
But the game keeps shoving more parasite specimens without choice to do as the first one.
That only made me think the game is forcing the player to keep it, and player like me who killed the first one is nothing more than a fool to lost 1 skill point forever.
there is a lot of good ones, among others the ability too fly
