First, if you’re using a newer card, Vulkan is recommended (but this all depends on your build as well and your CPU). HOWEVER all is not lost if it’s older, all you have to do is check on AMD or NVIDIA’s website to see if Vulkan is supported for your card. If it is newer, there is a liklihood that Vulkan is already installed for the latest driver (so your best bet would be to get rid of that .exe BUT I’ve never had to download it soooo I’m not entirely sure?? I don’t know much about it. It would be worth checking out AMD’s website.)
I highly recommend downloading MSI afterburner to keep your GPU fans HIGH- this helped me a lot and has been a game-changer for stabilizing the temperature. It might also be the reason why Vulkan is crashing- it’s getting too dang hot!
In windows control panel, there’s a setting that allows you to prioritize high performance, under power options. (Use caution unless you know your CPU can handle it.)
If your card supports it, choose FSR in game for AMD, and DLSS for NVIDIA. Then cap the frames at whatever your max fps is for your monitor. Turn Vsync off and see how it performs. if you notice a difference with it on, then by all means! :3
Also, haven’t had the greatest luck with the automatic curve function for the fans in MSI afterburner, I just manually switch the fans from mid-high depending on what I’m doing. It won’t hurt anything to do that btw, if you do decide to crank them all the way up. (Make sure it’s just the fan settings and not the overclocking/power, unless you already know how to overclock!!)
NOW additional graphics settings in game are really just personal preference- what could you live without? in my case, i have clouds set to low because I don’t care about the quality of them, as well as instance detail and animation level of detail to medium, with dynamic crowds OFF.
I really hope you can get something out of this because this game is absolutely stunning. There was also a recent patch so that might help with all of this too, good luck :)
